(1) First, I agree that it would be great if we had a top-25 PF with a top-50 behind him but we missed on those guys. Because we had ZERO PFs two years ago and only one this year (who the coaching has admitted was raw, was more of the project of the two they recruited and who did not play significant minutes (Blackwell has said some of this has to do with us losing so early and not being able to work with Elliot to the extent they would have liked)), the coaching staff wanted to make sure the position was solidified as the lack of a PF the past two years has hurt us bigtime defensively. I don't necessarily think the coaching staff brought in three PFs because they think they are all mediocre (in fact, Blackshear was really an afterthought after the extra scholarship opened up, the coaching staff wasn't out there actively looking at additional PF prospects this year as they wanted a center (and got a good one) and a wing player in case Wesby didn't return (they obviously think Robinson can be a wing player). In retrospect, they probably should have used the extra slot for a PG). Remember 5 years ago when we had tons of good guards (Pepe, Rasheed, Q, Greer, Malik Moore) did the coaching staff keep bringing in guards because they didn't think Pepe, Rasheed and Q were any good?

(2) Those are good examples of transfers pushing out other less talented players but we agree for the mostpart Chaney is loyal to experienced players. However, in Brown's case, he wouldn't just be beating out one player for time but 3.

Again, we are arguing over pure speculation but I think the discussion is relevant to the future of the program. We will see next year if these guys can play and who develops over the summer. I hope we can get higher level recruits (Butler was a good catch) but Chaney and his assistants have also had a knack for getting low or unranked players who turn into excellent college players (and, in some cases, pros).
