has anyone bought an rci holiday through the named catalogue? we were wondering if the catalogue can sell holidays using all the timeshare destinations why do we have to pay membership fees to rci when all as we have to do is get a catalogue.we have phoned rci on many a occasion with a date and destination but have always been told nothing is availabe.so tomorrow we are going to phone rci and ask them to give us the same holiday as is advertised in the catalogue and how much it would cost.we will let you know how we get on.

this is a new one.Exactly which catalogue have you seen the RCI holidays advertised in?I've been with RCI for a number of years now and this is the first time I've heard of them operating in this way.As far as booking with them, they rely on owners banking their weeks for the availability to offer the weeks to other members. In some ways it's a bit of a scam because you try and get school holidays through them. You'll be restricted to Tenerife in a studio or 1 bed apartment.I,like yourselves, have tried to book on many occasions but have been given the same excuse that there is no availability.Indeed, you have to deposit your week first before they'll tell you what the availability is!!!Yet another scam. The only way is to try and book upto 2 years in advance and then that might increase your chances. Let us know how you get on.

Hi, RCI have been renting out accommodation for years, when you ask "why cant I get an exchange to any of the rented ones, they tell you that it is a different inventory". Oh yes I believe that one. I gave up on RCI years ago after getting the same "NO AVAILABILITY" answer. How come they have all these apartments to rent?????, in school holiday time.??? but nothing to exchange into.
RCI even have web sites to rent out apartments.
When they phone I tell them I will not bank anything with them as they never have anything available to exchange back.
The other funny thing is, once you have banked it is exchanged right away???? funny that?? try unbanking it a week later. No chance, it's gone.

Also points owners can book fixed weeks, but fixed weeks owners cant book points weeks. That is assuming they have something to exchange.
