Subject: Membership Fees next year?

Have been told by a CLC Points rep. that next year they will be charging weeks owners an annual membership fee (presumably the same one points owners now pay). He told us that it was a new UK Government Law, in that all clubs, etc. will HAVE to charge a membership fee. Has anyone else heard this? Is it a Government Law or just another way for CLC to get even more money out of us annually?

CLC have gone to great pains to tell us all that the resorts come under Spanish Law as I remember it. If this is so then yes, it's just another way to force people out of weeks ownership. Lets face it they do not want weeks owners!

This is probably a very unethical reps way of getting people to convert to points. You are already paying a membership fee to the "Club" which is your maintenance fee.

I know reps tell more stories than Jackanory used to!! The rep in question was a "Paradise Club" expert but he didn't even know how much our management fees were. Plus have you noticed how bad their maths is (or should it be are??). No matter how often you say you pay less as a weeks member than if you were a points member, they always insist that their calculations prove that being a points member is cheaper.
The reps expected us to pay £2500 to change to points, i.e. pay twice for the week we already own!! We suggested that if they want everyone in points, then surely they should be making US an offer of cash to convert ... they didn't like that:-))

Please note everyone that the £2,500 is negotiable, certainly down as low as £1600

Ok let me get this right. CLC are inflating the maintenance fees for fixed week owners by 'inventing' additional extra fees. (Presumably fixed week owners are almost extinct). So if us FWO do not change to points our options are to leave them to it and walk away. CLC then sell the newly aquired weeks as points, for which again they can charge whatever they like with even less explainable reasons. And this works? So they're driving out the dying breed of FWOs and also POs. So who's buying?, certainly not ex-FWOs or POs. There's no encouragement to keep existing owners which ever format, potential buyers seem to be 'quick-kill' targets, these people who supposedly got our best interest at heart, appear not to have the basic fundamentals of economics, or again am I missing something. As it stand at present I have no intention of converting to points, I have no intention of paying anything like last years main fees, to which CLC will have yet another 'satisfied' customer of their questionable payroll.

WHAT ARE WE GETTING NEXT? CLC IS A MANAGEMENT COMPANY. WE ARE FIXED WEEK OWNERS. WE PAY EXTORTIONATE FEES EXTRA THIS EXTRA THAT. WE ARE ALL UNHAPPY. WE VOTED OUR COMMITTEE MEMBERS IN WHAT THE DUCK (SORRY BAD AT SPELLING YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN!) ARE THEY DOING FOR US? WISH WE HAD SOMEONE WHO IS A SOLICITOR OR LAWYER AND KNOWS THE LOOPHOLES THAT CLC USE TO FLEECE US WITH EACH YEAR. IS THERE ANYONE OUT THERE TO HELP, EVEN THE FEW WHO BOTHER TO USE THIS FORUM TO TRY AND HELP EACH OTHER. OBVIOUSLY MOST OF US ARE UNABLE TO ATTEND THIS YEARS AGM. SO I WONDER WHO WILL SPEAK UP FOR US? PERHAPS THERE COULD BE A MIRACLE OVER TENERIFE AND IT COULD BE OUR COMMITTEE MEMBERS, OR IS THAT PIGS I SEE FLYING OVER.

I'm hoping the membership fees threat was just a lie, i.e. the rep's way of trying to make points sound better.

I wrote to someone on the Committee once and never even got a reply!! I don't understand how they can be representing us when we have no contact with them and we are unable to provide topics for discussion at the AGM.
