Although some may disagree, having carefully studied what info I can find about the X-5, and asking lots of questions, it is obvious to me that the GMT or MXT would be a better choice for nugget hunting than the X-5. Sorry, but that is my take on the matter. If you want a truly "multi-purpose" machine, i.e. coins/jewelry/nuggets, forget the GMT, and go for either the X-5 or the MXT, the latter having many more useful features, and probably a bit more depth, too. If you want strictly a gold machine, stick to the GMT, especially the chest or hip-mount version (i.e. the one I use) AND, then ALSO get the Mini DD Shooter coil. I find I can get flakes as little as 1/20th grain (no depth, admittedly) with the GMT fitted with the MDD. See ya' around Randsburg later this year when it cools off (and I close escrow on the ranch, which is taking all my free time to fix up. Grrr....). HH Jim
