Jim,

I got a used Hot Foot for my GMT a couple of weeks ago. I got it out this weekend and tried to use it. I noticed that the thing is noisy and everytime I tap it against a rock it, made a signal kinda like a bing-bong. Sweeping the coil over the same rock produce no noticeable signal, only when tapping again the rock. Also the signals were erratic compared to the standard 10" DD coil stock on the GMT.

Do you know if there is more than one version of the Hotfoot? Was wondering if the coil is possible for a different Goldmaster, etc? The stock DD coil is solid with no wavering or erratic signal at all. I have check for possible things like broken cables, cracks in housing, etc. The coil looks like new and cabling is sound visually.

Any suggestions?
