In reply to: Nancy 's message, "Re: TSC Renew/Cancel Chances" on Saturday, April 28, 02:08:47am

The CW does this with all their shows. They have a winter break that feels like it lasts forever and then they give you
a few episodes and then they have a spring break that is a little less annoying. They come back during sweeps and see
if the "fans" follow the show back. On top of that, I think they don't promote TSC enough, treat it more like a step child.

I agree. The CW does not promote TSC enough. I see The Vampire Diaries and Hart of Dixie more than most of their series. With the many weeks in between episodes, it would be in their best interest to showcase the upcoming new episode several times within the week before it airs. I used to hate how they did this during Smallville.

I did see them showcase the new episode during hiatus...maybe it was 3 times or so lol.

It didn't help they put Supernatural in TSC timeslot after "Return"/Feb sweeps. Maybe they wanted to see how Supernatural would fare in that timeslot.

Although I will give them kudos for having a TSC marathon during winter hiatus..

The peole in connection with The Secret Circle apparently were happy with the choice of Joe Lando playing John Blackwell. He was originally cast for three episodes. However, they have kept him until the end of the 1st season.

If they were so happy with Joe's work, then I don't understand why they had two breaks in the second part of the season. Plus during the first break they showed episodes of The Supernatural.

The series was disjointed. It had a first part. The second part started when Joe appeared as John Blackwell.
Joe's protrayal of Blackwell was the start of pulling the series together. I think because of Joe work the series deserves a second season.

The scheduling is decided by The CW not Andrew Miller & co. I don't think he has control over it.

Here's a good article regarding hiatuses

I just watched "Traitor." Of course Joe does a great job with his part, but do you notice how all the parents are horrible,
evil witches and everyone is using each other to become "the most powerful witch." Everyone kills and it's nothing to them.
Teenagers, who are in high school, not even seniors, are drinking, grabbing a bottle and getting really high. There aren't any
consequences to their actions. The only parent who isn't killing is the alcoholic father, but I think he did some bad stuff 16
years ago. To me it is so obvious what will happen to John, and no one should be too surprised. Am I only feeling this way
because I am a parent and would be so disappointed to see my kids at that age acting the way TSC kids and their parents are?

What is your theory about what will happen to John

I totally agree with you Judy. Absolutely no supervision of these children and no parental involvement. Everyone is out for themselves. But then I am so old school and was involved in everything my kids did.

I wondered if I was the only one feeling that the young witches were totally on their own with basically no supervision or parental involvement.

Joe is the only adult that I have seen show interest in the teenagers even if he has evil tendencies.

I must be out of it because I was pretty surprised at the underage drinking on the show - especially in the middle of prom season. I wish shows that are aimed at a teen audience would be more responsible.

Judy you do know this is The CW..right? LOL. Parents aren't as good and/or don't exist (on One Tree Hill two of the female characters lived alone in their house majority of the time. And there's been no investigation into Nick's and/or Jane's death lol. Not to mention Child Protective Services didn't even come for Cassie when her Grandma was away...although John does check in from time to time. Thats why I asked that question to Andrew "who's going to take care of Cassie next season?" John is presumed dead so don't think he can be a legal guardian.

My beef with the show is they don't clearly explain family lineages esp. with Diana considering the revelation we learned. Fans online have been wondering...wouldn't they have sensed something wrong when they bounded the circle since Diana isn't a Meade. In the pilot it is stated "complete circle is 6 from 6 diff. families...etc." but since Diana has Balcoin blood in her. Andrew did answer this and stated she's bound through her mom but still confused as to why her crystal is from the Meade? Shouldn't it be from her mom's? LOL. They need an episode to explain the families...I don't know maybe in the season finale.

Television isn't the same as it use to be. Why I stick to mainly Travel and Food Network channels, if not my DVDs. I'm not a parent myself, but my childhood was a complicated one (not going to get into personal stories here), so I can relate to the teens that had parenting issues.

I see the same patterns of what I went through with kids nowadays. It's sad. Teens always bragging about partying, getting knocked up, smoking weed. Come on! It's not only the parents doing a crap job, but also look at the reality shows and media that are getting thrown on TV. Seriously. I despise them.

As for the show, Diana's bloodline is complicated. At first, I thought the Meade family were through her mother's end but then they revealed it through Charles. This is the part of the show I am most confused by. As for the upcoming episodes, I feel there is going to be way too much loaded into the storyline to overwhelm fans. As a writer, they should learn how to get the story out but not overboard it in a short span. If there is a 2nd season, maybe TSC should move to another network.
