You are right when you say that it is impossibe to know when "human life" begins. Science, religion, and custom will always disagree both internally and externally as to when the fetus becomes human. However, this is exactly why we can't ban abortion. In our society you are guarenteed as many rights as possible, in fact any rights not reserved to the federal government is reserved to the states or the people. In additon, our society is based on the fact that even though we are in a democratic republic, one's sides will can not be forced on a group in violation of their legal rights. This is why it must be up to the persepective mother whether to have the abortion or not. Since it is not a known fact when a fetus becomes a human life the government, Federal or State, isn;t authorized to make a law governing it. It would be akin to legislating that everyone must be a democrat, or a christian, or take a certain medication. The choice can only be with the mother, it is her right.
