Your H/M stylist will cut slits in the side of the hat, where the hat band is, and then will securely pin the hat to your dd's head. This is the proper way to do this. My gd dances, tumbles, and full on pro-ams and her hat does not budge. Our H/M stylist is Teresea Yee, I'm sure others do this same thing. We show horses but do not use a hat that would be used in a horse show. I purchase the hats on ebay that are called gambler's hats. The boot can be dyed to match the WW, also stoned. Most of the little tykes wear an actual child's cowboy boot, but once the child is dancing, tumbling, the boot is very impractical and hinders the movement and routine.
