Superstretch is generally used for the bodices on pageant dresses...but not all designers use superstretch. Just about any fabric can be used. (Note: When using superstretch you also generally use the wrong side of the fabric) not as much shine. Organza and Chiffon are used for the short skirts...also depends on what type of skirt you are going for. Organza does the best for Cupcake skirts. Chiffon works beautifully for southern style skirts (longer top layer..not as puffy on top, but still full underneath). The underlayer ruffles can be a matching color cotton or poly blend or the same same fabric as the top layers of the skirt. Each person has their own preferred way of doing it, and generally prices vary accordingly. Stones. Most desired stones are Swarovski stones. You can purchase on-line. Depends how many you order will depend on which vendor is best for you. But starting out, and not having to open an account etc. Try Tami's Place. She has an ebay store and is a web store. Fast, reliable and good quality. Fair pricing. The Rhinestone guy, also fair pricing sometimes you can get fantastic deals/specials. Generally the more you order from anyone..the better the price break. Also do a little reading up on stones. There are flatbacks and pointbacks..used in different applications and can give you a completly different look on your stone design. Find out the right glues to use for your design. Lace can be bought on-line and dyed to match. Dyeing the fabrics is more like painting. Apple Paints are used to dye/paint the lace to match the fabric of the bodice. There are many many previous posts on this board. You can learn alot by doing a search in the archives. Like how to do the curled hem. How to dye the fabric etc. Good luck on your new endeavor.
