I usually come here for sewing help, but if anyone can help me with this I would appreciate it. I am wanting to direct my own pageant, but I don't know where to start. Email me if you can help.

Start by sitting down and listing every expense you can think of for a pageant - from the postage for mailouts to the crowns. Don't leave anything out and force yourself to consider all the incidentals expenses such as the gas you will use running around and buying gifts. Force yourself to be honest about the price of things, the true quantity needed, and a realistic number of contestants for your first pageant.

Divide the total projected expense by 60% of the number of contestants you projected and that is the MINIMUM you can charge for entry fees. If that looks doable then ask yourself where the money will come from to pay all the upfront fees. Very few people will pay deposits until the last minute. Remember that not every contestant will enter all events unless you have a flat rate pageant.

Plan every last detail on paper before you spend one penny or make any sort of public announcement......and the hardest part - grow some very thick skin! Good luck!
