Responding to the 1st one... RP EXP. It is up to the DM and players to find a happy medium for advancement of characters. Some like fast and noticable, others like slow to watch and see their characters personalities develop. Finding this can be VERY challenging and difficult as each player and DM are different. For those of you in my game, I also give out 'goal' exp. I got the idea from Balder's Gate. Whenever the group completed a portion of my campaign (which is broken down like chapters in a book)I awarded EXP for it. I also gave out EXP for certain extras, such as the rescent rescue of Rong and Lazar. Perhaps this would be helpful in accelerating the slow progress most players notice at higher levels.
Point 2... I agree and it is DEFINATELY hard to keep track of, however, the DM does have a chatlog from the previous session on his hard drive in the WebRPG folder he can re-read and calculate the damage with. Alot more work for the DM, but more rewarding for those who do the work in combat. We as DM's need to be careful with this one, as it will certainly go the fighters way and if the other characters who can not swing a sword as well out think the beast but do not do as much damage, we will run into conflicts. I will give EXP based on my DM view of what helped the most and did the most to defeat the monster/situation. This is how it will be done in my campaign.
Point 3... I completely DISAGREE. The energy drain is an ability of the creatures and should NOT be limited. Should a DM limit the effectiveness of a sword if it kills too quickly? NO. Should I take away a fighters ability to weapon specialize, knowing at higher levels he will be able to swing and inflict terrible death with every blow? Certainly NOT. I vote to leave the Undead the way the are. I also have a difficult one with this as much of my campaign is structured around the dead. Sorry.
This is my 2 cents worth.
