I was thinking about his interview in the Advocate years ago. He seemed to have a gay-rights agenda going on. In the interview he came off as trying to make some sort of liberal "political" statement - or - like he was angry with certain people who don't have the same views on homosexuality. Gay rights IS a political thing. I probably read more into it than I should have. You're right though - Green Day isn't like some other bands.

I just realized I have the DVD "Riding in Vans With Boys." I don't know how I got a copy and I didn't realize Green Day was in there. My friend and I know the tour manager featured on the DVD. Maybe that's why I bought it. It was a really funny documentary about a band from San Diego called Kut U Up who got the chance to open for Blink 182 and Green Day in 2002. It was funny to see all the homoerotic male bonding that takes place on the road.
