JM was pretty much through w/Lori - for the time being. And he saw someone extraordinarily beautiful, talented & sought after. This doesn't preclude his life-long penchant for underage girls. Or those who didn't dare question him, lest run the risk of seeming like a wet blanket or whistle-blower.

And for the record, it was creepy then - as well as illegal. There weren't social services in place for that type of behavior - skipping school, out after cerfew - like there is now. And it was tough for parents - if there were any around - to know what to do in a situation like that. The consequence would have been reform school, many of which (if you don't have much, if any money), can be perilous.

Fun times, money & prestige are hard to resist - especially for a teenager. It doesn't make it suitable for them, though. And adults have always known that. Look how Jerry Lee Lewis was received in England. And it wasn't just because Myra was his third cousin.
