That is not completely untrue...but the fact is, they were both heroin addicts and what the drug makes one do is not necessarily what one would do as a person. I do know they had an up and down relationship and broke up several times. However, I do believe they were a couple when she passed away. He was heart broken to know the only woman he loved was gone...no matter what. That is from Layne's mouth!!! I heard him say this several times during the recording of that last album.
Layne was fucking groupies and Demri was fucking who ever...went both ways and you are not in a position to judge them. And as for the women...Layne had a thing for threesome's...if she did it with out him, then who wouldn't be pissed? He did things to piss her off as well! Like fucking girls on the road when she was there. It was a merry go round!
I am sure that when they first got together in high school, Layne could not pay ANY bills for Demri or buy their heroin...one of them got the $$ somehow. Layne paid for rehab for himself a couple of times as well. So what if he wanted to help her get sober...rehab doesn't work for every one on the first, second or third try. Sobriety is for those that want it. And, in a effort to get him off herion and keep him sober, he was not allowed access to his own accounts for a while (during Lolapalooza in 1990 something)and had a baby sitter on tour. I was there, that is what I was told by one of the other guys in the band and their manager. But then again...in the end, Demri didn't die of an overdose, yet a bacterial infection in the heart and LAYNE DIED OF A SPEEDBALL OD!!! Yeah, I bet you are pissed off that he took his money and wasted it on himself as well. Neither of them stayed sober...that is the fact.
From what I knew of the situation, the sex for money was for BOTH of their heroin fixes. So don't go criticising what only those two knew about their life together.
I simply stated they were together forever now and hopefully happy there. I wasn't trying to glorify anything...just be discreet and nice. They asked what Layne was like...and in the end, he was a funny, sweet, talented man.
