I can understand and agree w/this, but what do you make of an over-enthusiastic show of attention?

A band called "Firehouse" (the singer) used to dote so much attention on me during shows that I was actually embarrassed! He used to announce dedications of certain songs to me, then he would come to my side of the stage and sing the whole song to me. During other shows, if he didn't see me in the front row (but knew I was there), he would say, "Where's _____? Where's my girl?" Then he would ask the spotlight guy to shine the spotlight on me while he sang a song to me. I was flattered, but kind of weirded out. I never slept w/him either.
