Subject: Almost ready to begin school ... Yippee!

Well, I'm about ready for us to begin our new school year on July 8th. I've purchased the supplies I'll need for doing our Patchwork Primers lapbooks using ideas from Dinah Zike's books. My dh and I have rearranged some bookshelves in our home so that I have the 2 biggest shelves in our living room where we do our read-alouds. I wanted to have ALL of my Am. Hist. books at my fingertips plus more space for my kids' favorite books and games. I know that by having the games available, I'll be more apt to play them with the kids in the afternoons and I'll also have something to entice my kids with ... "we'll play games when school is done, etc."

This week I have to begin weaning them off of the TV again - LOL! We've had a nice month break from school and they'll be visiting my dh's family from 6/29-7/3. My dh is taking them back to the farm where he grew up (now his brother's home) and I get to stay behind BY MYSELF (double YIPPEE!!) and get some school scheduling finished, do some scrapbooking, begin sanding kitchen cabinets so that we can paint them, read a book, rent some movies and eat some take-out food that only I like! My dh does this for me every couple of years or so and it really is nice to just spend a few days alone doing my own thing. We'll all be together for July 4th and the few days after and then we'll start school - I can't wait! Now, if I can only make this "time alone" a yearly thing - LOL!
