Subject: I'm not Sharon, but I will answer a couple of your questions ...
In reply to: Liann 's message, "Sharon, lots of questions for you on PP" on 22:38:31 06/11/02 Tue

Hello!
I am not Sharon, but I have purchased the first Vol and so thought I'd throw in my opinions. Hope Sharon doesn't mind and I'm sure she'll be along shortly to answer your questions, too!

>My other son is 7 1/2 and is hyperactive. It
>is a challenge to keep him focused on schoolwork.

I have a similar child and I believe that PP will work well for him - we will begin Vol. 1 July 8th.

>How much prep work is involved for the mom/teacher who is using PP?

After looking through Vol. 1 several times, I don't think there is too much prep work involved. Sharon lists supplies you will need for each week so you can look ahead and shop for most of your supplies at once, except maybe for the ingredients to make the "recipe of the week!" Regular library trips would be helpful, too. Our library allows us to re-check out books twice, so I could possibly gather ALL of the books we would need for one unit in ONE trip and just renew them all twice.

>Also, do I need to start with Vol. 1?
NO, not at all
>Does the series build?
No
>Is it ok if I just skip volume 1
Yes

>Are there explanations for the moms who have not learned the material when they were in school?

I don't have the Inventions book in front of me, so will let Sharon answer this.

>We have a math program (Math-U-See), so is it necessary to do the math portion?

We use Mastering Mathematics and will continue to do so while doing PP. The math in Vol. 1 will only add to our studies as it is more "real life" math and not list after list of word problems.

>Also, can we skip parts of the unit if we are already covering that in another area or have previously covered it? How easy is it do that?

Sharon will have to answer this.

>Do you have a suggested book list, that varies with grade levels, in the PP manual or do we just find our own books from the library?

There is no book list in Vol. 1 ... not sure about Vol. 2

>If I purchase your unit study and after reviewing it find
>it will not meet our needs, can I return it?

Sharon will have to answer this.

I hope to use Vol. 2 in another couple of years, I think. I'd love to hear how well you like it if you end up purchasing it!

Kris
