the single leaf on the tree
caught the eye of the only lizard on the earth
for a moment
he wondered if it would make a difference
if the leaf fell to the ground
for gravity
or for him
and so the leaf waited
for time to seal his fate
for it was his faith that led him to the sap
but time is harsh
to see the future
but time is frail
she has to protect
it is in her nature
the leaf withstood the wind
the rain
the thunder
the snowflake landed upon her shoulder
and took the warmth in her heart
she was left to ponder
the lizard deep in the heart
awake it wondered
if the sky above was still white and puffy
from the corner of his eye
he saw the leaf
he ran out to land in the splendor
only to see the wit of the eye of the other
