The king and I
were eating a pie
of berries and pears
and honey and hares.
With a long drawn sigh,
the king said to I,
"it would have been nice,
if there were some mice."
"No, no, how can that be?
It's perfect with honey,
and rest of the stuff."
I declared in a huff.
"Ah yes, honey and mice,
steamed twice and baked thrice,
topped with gratings of a swan!"
but the king rattled on.
He didn't even care,
sitting on his chair,
about my only advice,
of what is really nice!
At this I fled -
he should eat dirt instead.
What a waste of my days,
I must seek other brighter ways.
