“Reggie, wait up!” I called down the hallway. He stopped and turned around, “What’s up?”
“Boy, I kept callin’ you and you didn’t stop,” I replied catching my breath. I held onto his shoulder. “I ain’t hear you. I’m gon’ be late, what’s up?”
I dug in my bag and pulled out a letter and handed it to him. “I wrote you back last night. I loved the bear Reggie that was sweet. How was the banquet?”
“Um, it was…nice. Hey, I’ll talk to you about it later. You coming to my game tonight?” He asked looking like he was in a rush, but we had more than enough time to chat. My smile faded because obviously he wasn’t reacting to my positive attitude. “Yeah, I’ll be there, tonight,” I replied trying to figure out this new expression on his face. “Alright. Talk to you then,” He said and walked on down the hallway. No kiss?
I sat in class after we took our test pulling out my Dynasty notebook. I had just com eup with the idea to do a two way rap. But with who? Hmm…Travis Lee. The freestyle king at Bridgewood. I’d catch him in the hallway today after class and I made a note of it.
“So, yall like my idea? I mean we only got this week to work on it and we still got dance moves to go over and if Travis agrees I think it’ll only help us do better. It’ll be hot,” I tried to influence the girls while we sat at lunch.
“You really think we can pull this off?” Lyla asked. “Yeah! Dynasty can do anything. Practice that’s all. Yall free this week or what?” I asked everyone.
“Gosh, I got to go to church tonight and…” Nicole said. “I got a track meet tonight. Unless we meet late then I can maybe work it through my schedule,” Lyla included sipping her soda. “Unlike them I’m free as a bird. Well, how about this, we meet tomorrow after school and our regular on Wednesday. If Travis agrees we’ll do that Wednesday and if so Macy he can work with you today. Tomorrow we’ll do dance routine. Wednesday, all together,” Roshay explained. We all agreed. It was a pretty good plan and no matter what it couldn’t backfire on us. Still, I had to find Travis.
