okay i was going to post more of this but this darn disk is acting up so im going to have ta post it lataz. but this is totally fiction! hope yall enjoy this part ri here holla.
A Birthday I’ll Never Forget
“Is he… he gone Ra?” Monee asked as quietly as she could, trying not to make a sound.
“ I dunno I- I cant breathe” I replied breathing heavily
“Rashida? Monee?” the voice got closer. Monee screamed before I could stop her. I covered her mouth and told her to grab the heaviest thing near her.
“ Thank you girls for making this so easy for me to find you. I’ll return the favor and make your death quick and easy. Say hi to your friends on the other side for me, will you? and that I didn’t want it to be this way. They brought it upon themselves” telling by his voice he was angry and he was getting closer. I got Monee's attention and mouthed out the words ‘get ready’. She nodded and pointed behind me. He was right behind me. He hit me in the head with a book, I think, and I fell to the floor.
“Shit … shit!” Monee yelled “ ‘shida? Get up.”
He didn’t hit me too hard to where I couldn’t hear the loud thud and Monee scream. “Who the fuck are you? What the hell do you want with us?!”
It was supposed to be my best birthday ever since my 16th didn’t quite go as planned. Today started with my boyfriend, Omari, waking me up with breakfast in bed and flowers. We chilled for about an hour and he drove me to his house to meet up with our other friends De’Mario and Raven, Monee and Jarell, and my sister Rika and Druex. They embraced me with hugs and happy birthdays then we rode to Six Flags Magic Mountain to spend most of the day there. Around 6:30pm we went to some pizza place near my house where they sung happy birthday to me.
“HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU! HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU! HAPPY BIRTHDAY DEAR RASHIDA! HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU!!! Whoooo!!!” they cheered
Omari put his arms around me and whispered “Make a wish.” I blew out my candles and they cheered again “Ra,why didn’t you let me take you to a better place than this?”
“ Cuz I don’t need it, O. you guys spend enough money on me at Six Flags.”
“ Your moms gave Rika the money to pay for that.” Rell informed me
“And I think O said something about us going to the movies after this” Mario included and Raven hit him.
“ You wasn’t supposed to say that. It was only an idea, Ra. I wanted to go clubbin’” Raven said as she started to dance in her seat with Mario.
“ See, now why you wanna go and spend all that money on me, ‘mari?” I asked him.
“ You worth it” O kissed me
“You forgot presents, ‘shida” Rika mentioned.
“Presents?!”
“Here’s the gift from me and Rell, girl” Monee said giving me a black bag with a dark blue low cut stretch flare pants and a white CK halter top inside. “you like it Rashida?”
“This is really cute,” I smiled and checked out the rest out the outfit. “Super low cut?”
“Yeah its gonna look cute though I brought the same pants and top so we can dress alike.”
“I aint gonna lie it is cute so thank you both”
“Your welcome, Ra”
“Maybe you can find something to go this.” Raven said raising a heavily decorated bag to my face.
“Rae, girl what did you get me?… oh my goodness the hat, shoes and purse I wanted! This looks expensive-”
“Rashida! Stop worrying about the money!” Mario told me “ ‘sides I paid for half of it so chill”
“And it was on sell” Raven added in.
“Aiight. Rika, where my present at?”
“Okay okay for my sisters 17th birthday I got you … nothing but my love and respect for you.” Rika said and laughed. We all laughed.
“She’s serious Ra. Want me to kill her?” Druex offered then put Rika in a headlock.
“Don’t kill my sister! Rika you serious?”
“No. of course not. I got you these CD’s, a card and this”. The CD’s were Glenn Lewis, Donell Jones and Ja Rule, all of my favorite artists and a Winnie the pooh bear. “Well I shouldn’t say I got it for you. Druex gave you the Ja Rule CD. The card doesn’t say much but happy birthday. I just needed something to put the money in.”
“Thank you Rika and Druex.”
“ ‘shida, wait till you see what O got you!” Rell said. Druex and Mario grinned.
“O, what did you get her?” Monee added to the fire. Then everybody joined in. Omari was blushing but he tried to hide it. This either meant he got me something really good, something Im going to hate or nothing at all.
I let them know that I wasn’t going to say anything because I knew they were just being goofy.
“Aiight aiight.” Omari said to quiet them down. “ Rashida what I got you… first let me say you are very special to me and I care about you very much. Okay? Here it goes… happy 17th baby.” O sat yet another bag in front of me. “close you eyes” I searched through the bag. When I felt something I pulled it out, it felt like a card. I opened my eyes and … oh my…
Monee gasped “Ooooooo Omari you are so dead. It was nice knowing you.”
“ this isn’t my gift rashida..”
“ damn O. where did you get that from? That…” Mario laughed.
“Its not funny, Mario” Raven said laughing.
“what were you trying to say, O” Druex snickered.
The card was a postcard that said ‘wish you were her…’ with a naked model on the back.
“Omari, how could you do that? You know Im sensitive about my figure…”
“ But rashida that’s not my gift I- ” Omari stopped and looked at the card “ well, … you would look nice if…”
“ IF WHAT? What kind of gift is this?” I snapped.
Druex, Rell, Mario, Rae, and Rika burst out laughing. “take it easy. We… uh we wanted to see how you’d react if he did get you that.” Rika giggled.
“Its only a joke”
“Rika, this was your idea?” I asked. She laughed harder “Omari, Im sorry,”
“Rika, that was not funny. Ra I had no idea they did this.” Monee defended herself.
“Rashida don’t worry about it.” O pulled out of the bottom to the bag a little black box. “I really did mean everything I said.”
“ I know ‘mari. Go on.”
“This is my real gift. It’s a promise ring. A promise that we’ll be together for ever” I opened the box and took out the silver ring with 3 small diamonds lined across the middle. Inside the ring was inscribed O and R 4ever. “A little token of my love” Omari put the ring on my finger and I almost cried.
“ omg, ‘mari thank you !!”
“ don’t cry rashida.”
“okay I wont” I fanned at my eyes so I wouldn’t cry. Then I laughed. “ even though it was on me, I gotta admit, that was one of the best jokes you guys pulled.”
Everybody laughed again. Rika and Druex are always pulling lil stunts on people. They’ll come up with a idea then tell Rell, Mario, Raven and sometimes Omari and they’ll do it. Me and Monee don’t like stuff like that so its usually on us. We agreed that the next time they did we’d get them back but the opportunity hasn’t came up yet and we never know when the next joke is coming.
“okay peoples!” Raven hopped up. “Lets get outta here. We got a while to drive if we’re going to the movies. What time is it Druex?”
“6:45 pm.”
“uh I dunno you wanna go to the movies Ra?”
“It doesn’t matter to me Omari. We’ll figure it out in the car. Lets get outta here” I said and everybody got up quick and went out to the car.
“Im going to the bathroom” Monee whispered to me “don’t let them leave me”
“lol okay” Omari left a tip and helped me with my gifts. “Omari? What if I did look like her?”
“baby girl, I don’t want you to look like nobody but your self”
“aww…” I kissed him and reached for my cake. Monee came out of the bathroom and we headed out the door.
We never knew that today would be a day that none of us would forget.
I will post more of this tomorrow! hopefully this disk will be working then, so look out for part 2 tomorrow! duece.
