Out of the two I consider only Satriani to be one of the originals.
Vai is more an amulgation of Satriani,Zapa and Eddy.
Both of them lack a lot when it comes to improvisation,all they do is repeat their tricks over and over.
Satriani obviously has tried some different settings,not very succesful to me.
And Vai's music has been the same for a long time and he's not improving.Passion and Warfare is still the best thing he ever did to me.
