 Maybe I'm biased, because I worked on the film, but I believe that dissing a character because he's white is just as racist.

Maya doesn't leave an Asian man for a white man. The character just happens to be white, and he's Rumanian not Anglo. The story is not about race. Heck in the original script Harry's last name was Gomez, not Gomes.
