 Sounds to me that you're overfilling the water reservoir. Check it closely, there's an indication on the neck where the fill line is and you must not fill it beyond that line. Actually located close to where the two necks meet. There's no gasket needed between the top half and the bottom half of the neck. The bottom half is actually the reservoir, a much larger container than what's visible from the top.
