The top portion of the tube is empty and the sponge like substance inside is dry like a sponge. I found an earlier post that might help, according to the exploded view it shows 2 washers one on the tube and one washer tank grommet that might be the culprit. Also when I took the tube out you see a washer that the tube goes into and sits on, but now I don't know under the tube or the beginning of the actual tank lip might have a washer that has given way to age. I am writing to see if someone had this same problem and aside from taking apart anything can it be repaired from the top instead of jacking up the car and getting underneath.
