It came from Handa-accesories. It is genuine honda. I did some more research today and it appears that Honda actually did go to a smaller filter. Some of the info I got scared me a little. It seems that some honda filters (with the honda name on them) are actually made by Fram--which is bottom line poor quality in my opinion. Apparently Honda has about 3 different manufacturers making their filters for them. Of course this is all "internet talk" but I guess it seems plausible. If there are any real parts "purists" here I'd like to hear what they have to say!! I work at a John Deere store. Of course Deere doesn't make their own filters but they do have high standards. I've seen cutaways of cheap filters and it is downright amazing what's inside some of them. Not much more than a little cheap pleating and endplates made of cardboard like what your toilet paper comes wrapped around.
Usually you get what you pay for and that's why I was sticking to the genuine Honda filter--when all of a sudden the part number changed and the filter was much smaller I got nervous. But it could very well be the smaller filter is higher quality and could do a better job than the big filter if it is made by a "cheap" supplier.
