 Hi all..
I have found myself in quite a quandry with my new 7 mo. old Chinese Crested "Emily". I just bought her from a breeder many states away and had her shipped to me. She was exactly what I was looking for. I would like to show her and do therapy dog work with her and get her champion on her. ( I have experience with showing, etc.).
Problem is....the day before she was shipped to me the breeder called and told me that she had gotten a case of teenage acne that had been brought on by being shaved as she was getting ready to ship her to me.
I said, okay, if it is just an acne out break I can deal with it. She came with clavamox and shampoo to help her along. Well, it has been a week. I just came back from my vet. She has dermodectic mange. It is a very bad case. She is red and oozing all over. The treatment is not working. The vet said they can treat her with revolution, but she would probably not be able to be shown as she could pass this onto her proginy.
So, I called the breeder and she refused to believe my vet yet I find out through conversation that she has had this mange in her kennel before. Infact she told me that she treats all her dogs every month for it.
My problem is....of course I want my money back, but I really want this little girl to get cured and have a great life. It is awful how this breeder did this.
What recourse do I have against this breeder? Can I report her to the AKC? Should I send the pup back knowing that I would be making her life awful? I just don't think I can do that.
I have canceled my credit card payment so my credit card company will fight for that part, but what about this little girl? What should I do?? I feel so bad for her and I really do love her.
