Author: Terry [ Next Thread | Previous Thread | Next Message | Previous Message ] Date Posted: 10:38:54 09/20/00 Wed Since Tommy wanted to post his little joke topic on the military, I decided to post a real non-joke post on civilians. Civilians have no clue what people in the service do. All 4 services. The do not understand our jobs, our sacrifices, anything. They dont understand the fact that the jobs we do in the service are much more complex than the same job in the civ world. They also dont understand that we get paid 1/4 of what the civilians do. I get roughly 20K a year as a NonCommisioned Officer E-4. The guy who does the exact same job as me in the civilian world, he works 8 hour days, I work 12, he makes roughly 70K a year. That is all calculated with benifits. Civilians are a bunch of whinners. They complain about everything. They go home every night and bitch about what happened at work that day. People in the service dont do that. Why? Because we never get to go home most of the time. I spend roughly 11 out of 24 months deployed. I miss all the holidays, my childs birth, ect, ect. That is the sacrifice I make to my country and I make it willingly. Civilians dont sacrifice anything to this country. They just suck it dry. The dishonor my brethern in arms everytime they turn around. Back in WWII time frame, a soldier came home and everyone shook his hand and praised him. Now days... they look the other way and wont even help them change a flat tire. I feel that EVERYONE in America should have to serve at least 2 years in the service or sometype of related field. Like the peace corps or ministry work or something. This would deffinitly cure the bullshit attitudes of so many people and would eliminate the gang banger deal because everyone would learn that they are not the center of the world and that team work is a must. So Tommy... you take all your complaints about the military and shove them up your ass. You have no clue what it is like to sacrifice your life for your country.
