In reply to: Sister Regina Dentata 's message, "How come Conservatives don't get called out when they whine (Re: Scarborough Country)" on 09:13:15 09/20/03 Sat

That does indeed sum things up, Sister Dentata. Out here in L.A. we are in the middle of the goddamnest recall you've ever seen. It has absolutely polarized the state right down the middle. No matter what happens, everyone loses.

The recall was started by a rich GOP state congressman and abetted by two howling GOP jackals who man the afternoon drive time slot for KFI, L.A.'s biggest radio station. Lesser GOP radio mouths jumped in to make the recall a gang bang and a referendum to "Save California."

Resorting to their reflexive persecution complex, Christians see the recall as their "last chance" to save California. With Christianity everything is apocalyptic and is the last chance.

Two undintended consequences of the GOP rampage against Gray Davis is his signing two laws he would not have otherwise. Before the recall, Davis shrewdly played to the middle and opposed gay marriage and drivers licenses for illegals. Now that he is in the fight of his political life, Davis has capitulated to the far right and has signed a domestic partnership law and another law that will allow illegals to get CA drivers licenses. The GOP caused these laws they hate to be signed. Davis is sticking it up the GOP's ass because he wins either way with these two laws.
If he beats the recall, he has made a decisive move to change CA and make it friendly to gays (good) and friendly to illegals (bad). I say bad about illegals because the Latino state political caucus stripped the background check provision from the illegal drivers license bill and this just opens the door to all kinds of criminals who want a new or fake identity. Davis is ruining CA and the GOP forced him into this corner.

CA is so massively fucked up right now that I am thinking of cashing in my chips and moving. The GOP is correct about what is going on financially. However, the GOP has so identified with Christianity and Christian causes that their social agenda is horrible. The Democrats have become so far right that their financial and social agenda is ruinous. There is no middle anymore because the GOP and the Dems have so badly polarized everything.

The middle class is going to get fucked. No matter what happens, we will pay more for taxes. It burns me that we will spend eighty million on drivers licenses for illegals.
This law is the first major crack in the dam, for it makes illegals de facto citizens. It allows them to ask for more and more recognition and rights. It is the dawn of the hybrid Californian who is a Mexican by birth and nationality and is yet an American by legislative default. The Feds will have to award some sort of legal status to the ten million illegals in the US just to get out from under the burden of having to pay states for their benefits.

An open border with Mexico will become a reality if the Dems and Bush have their way. Bush wants to bust unions with cheap labor and the Dems hope to get the CA illegal vote. I say this because there is now talk that if illegals work here and are de facto citizens then they should also be allowed to vote. It is just a nightmare with no good possibilities because of the taxes required to integrate CA's five million illegals.

On top of this, Bush wants to continue to cut taxes and spend $100 billion in Iraq. I'm sorry, but Bush is just a fucking idiot, a madman, and a fool. And he is aided and abetted by idiots, madmen, and fools.

And when his foot soldiers get to the point of whining about comic books and ignore just how massively fucked up things are, then you know that they have lost their way and are truly clueless. This is more absurd than Dan Quayle attacking the fictional character Murphy Brown because she wanted to be a single mother. Apparently, no one told Dan Quayle that Murphy was not a real person. I take that back, he knew, and yet he attacked anyway because people who are not real were easier for him to attack. He had that problem with foot-in-mouth disease with real people and real problems.

So lets sum it up:

CA drivers licenses for illegals
Gay marriage a de facto reality in CA
The Terminator running for CA governor

Bush spending $100 billion+ in Iraq while
we are still in a recession.

Bush still cutting taxes to the super-wealthy.
Forbes just reported that the wealthiest 400
Americans are worth $995 billion, this a mere
five billion short of a TRILLION FUCKING DOLLARS!
If the market moves up on a given day, the 400
could cross the trillion mark. And yet they need
tax cuts.

Bush just threw me a $600 check for my kids, while he and Cheney just saved millions in personal income taxes. Thanks, Bush. My July electricty bill was $500 thanks to your asshole Enron and Dynergy buddies. My tax relief check went to GOP energy criminals just like the last check did. My $600 did not stimulate the economy. I did not buy stuff. Instead, I paid .267 cents per kWH while the rest of the US pays between .05 cents and .15 cents per kWH.

I will probably move to Seattle or Reno in the next two years. The taxes and utility bills are brutal and housing is exceptionally expensive in SoCal. The median SoCal home goes for $368,000 and is climbing. Plus, we now have a few million licensed and uninsured illegal drivers on the road. The activists claim these poor people will now buy auto insurance because we gave them licenses. I will believe that when monkeys fly out of my ass.
