Subject: Re: "worth" in life
In reply to: Dionysos Thriambos 's message, ""worth" in life" on 15:28:46 07/23/01 Mon

Only life itself can ask if it has worth. Yet this is an abstraction. The more particular question, and one to Dionysos' point, is to ask, "Does my particular life have worth?"

This question requires us to define what is meant by worth.
Betsy, please define what you mean by "worth" so that we can continue to talk with a common understanding about the worth of a particular human life.

To expand on the point, I posit that "worth" is relative.
I therefore wonder if you are seeking an absolute or transcendent answer to your question or if you seek a subjective affirmation. For example, is there "worth" in suffering or is suffering always only aberrating?

Let us begin to tease out the threads of this complex question. And be bold, Betsy. You are welcome here. You have complete freedom to speak your mind. We will not criticize you. We may disagree, but we will not criticize in the sense of attacking you. I want you to know that you are accepted here at The Drunks Bar and that you can presence yourself even in your shadow aspects.
