Lauren and her family's car pulled into the drive of Fantail Creek. Lauren parked the car on the gravel, and everyone got out. Stephanie hustled into the barn, a carrot in her hand for Spice. She ran down the aisle. "Walk," Lauren scolded. Stephanie planted her feet in the ground in front of Spice's stall. She unlatched the bolt and went in, feeding the eager pony. Stephanie was wearing her bell bottom jeans, but she wanted to ride anyway, jodphurs or no jodphurs. She closed the pony's door and went into the tackroom to put on her paddock boots and get her tack & grooming supplies. She brought Spice out on cross ties and started brushing her off quickly. She noticed that Melanie had kept the pony clean. She tacked up Spice quickly and went to the big outdoor arena. There was a small jumping course set up. Stephanie warmed up Spice and spent some time doing flatwork. At the end, Stephanie did a few rounds with the small jumps. She noticed a difference in Spice's jumping ability. He seemed a little more supple. "Melanie's work was good, huh Spice!" Stephanie said, pleased. She went back to the barn and untacked Spice, putting the pony back in the stall. Stephanie spotted Melanie near Princess's stall. "Hey Mel!" Stephanie said. "Oh, hi! Glad you're back!" Melanie said, walking over. "Thanks a lot for watching Spice! He improved over the jumps!" Stephanie said. "Oh, yeah! Thanks, it's fine. Well, his jumping is different than Princess's. Spice is a little more stiff." Mel said. "Yeah, I'm working on getting him to spring more and arch his back. My family offrered a pay for this, but you're mom said it wasn't nessesary," Stephanie added. "It was fine! By the way, Prince is really adorable!" Melanie piped up. "Yeah, thanks. Maybe you could help me train him, that will be fun! I bought a Monty Robert's video on how to train the young horse. My mom said it might me useful," Stephanie said. "Well, I'll definatly think about it! Oops, I was supposed to be home 5 minutes ago, I better go. See ya Steph!" Melanie said, kissing Princess and jogging out of the stable. Samantha and Lauren were also pleased with Jenny & Cassidy's work. Lauren made a mental note to thank Jennifer when she next saw her. Natalie's pony Smoothie would be ridden the next day.
