let it be known that I use the term "exorcism" lightly, exorcism is a phrase from "your culture" that I use to relate it to you. I am native American Osage tribe and this ritual was completed by Cherokee tribal clergy.I also ask that you not message me with accusations of being sac-religious because like I said these are tribal affairs and besides that I am very defensive about my culture.
My culture is rich with stories of spirits, the first time I ever encountered something along these lines was about 5 years ago..my mother and I were in her room cleaning out her closet(my mother is very sick and needs help doing most things(FIBER MYALGY))at one point I was across the room from her folding clothes,we were talking as she took the hanging clothes out of the closet..she started to complain about the lighting, saying that she couldn't't see a thing .which was odd because the room was so well lit but when I lifted my head to suggest moving the lamp closer to her I stopped in my tracks because there was, what I can only describe as a dirty Grey cloud around my mother...I literally couldn't't get my mouth to work and just stared. My mother glanced back at me and when she did the door knocked her into the closet and she started screaming and beating the door,I scrambled across the bed and wrenched the door open..my mother and I just stood staring at one another for a couple of seconds and then she started crying and shaking.
My mother than told me that things like that had been happening with some frequency in her home, she had told me in the past that "weird things" had been happening around the house but I had though she meant things that were, you know "normal"we have a family friend that is a Cherokee medicine man when I called him he didn't't even sound shocked, he was talking like I had called him to tell him a new recipe..but he did come over within the hour.
when he arrived I talked to him in the driveway for an undetermined amount of time, telling him what I had witnessed myself and relaying what my mother had told me of previous encounters.when we did go inside my mother was in her recliner and when Pete saw her he stopped dead in his tracks,he confided in me later that she had an entity that laid across her shoulders ,he described it as a black cat(really)he never said a word to my mother about what he saw but when he questioned my mother she said that she had an awful weight on her upper back and shoulders, creepy right?
the ritual was a long one, it took a eight day to complete, for seven days my mother had to drink a tea, when she did this, she would slip into heavy hallucinations about a family with children. The children talked to my mother, she could never tell me afterwords what they talked about(its hard for an observer to tell exactly whats going on because most of the things that are said audibly don't make much sense but I could pick out some things)when Pete returned on the eighth day to complete the ritual and cleanse the house he confessed to me that the children that talked with my mother while she was under the influence of the tea, were bad spirits "demons "if you will, they were trying to fool my mother into thinking they were harmless so that she wouldn't't go through with the ritual(hear I will say that two times in the seven days she wanted to discontinue the tea, claiming that the family wasn't hurting anyone that they were just lost spirits and there was no danger from them)..the ritual had warn heavy on my mother and her eyes were dark and her body was week, her mind fuzzy..when he started, he first took and burned sage smudging around her body and brushing the smoke over her face with a wing (literally a birds severed wing, looked to me like turkey(used in many native ceremonies)...and for those of you who don't know me please don't message me about animal cruelty or regarding anything negative about my culture that is a sensitive subject for me and I wont respond in a nice manner)when he waved the smoke over her face her body gave out and she crumpled to the carpet and the healing continued there,he then said words in the Cherokee language that I did not understand(I am not Cherokee) after his words he started drawing out the spirit with his inward breaths and the wing,my mother fought him weekly with her head lulling back and forth, slowly pushing at his mouth as he drew the spirit from her. After drawing the spirit out, Pete consumed the spirit, this made him very week and I had to drag him to the door so he could vomit(important, not to be done inside the house because it releases the spirit back into the home)when we returned back to the living room my mother was up again, sitting in her chair, a little dazed but she felt that a weight had been lifted..and after the house was smudged and a prayer was said Pete left...my mothers health improved and there have been no more paranormal happening sense.
The one thing that sticks with me is what came out of my mothers mouth sold, liquid and smoke all at the same time...very hard to describe.thick dirty and a dark Grey also worth mentioning is the look on Pete's face as he consumed it,and the ending results when he vomited in our yard.had I not been there I would never beveled the accounts.
and while my mother was under the influence of heavy hallucinogens...I was not,I know what I saw and do not doubt myself...this is the only significant supernatural thing that has ever happened to me(my mother)personally.
I would like to know if you know of any other accounts of native American "exorcism" I have posted on expereinceproject.com but have received no responses
