Budgie? Good Lord, that's obscure (Welsh, right?). Didn't some of their personnel overlap with Atomic Rooster? Actually, no, I'm really not a metalhead, though on rereading my pics I see how it looks that way (I'm 33, just feeling old).
I do have a soft spot for late 70s rock, but I am embarrassed to say that I spent most of my college years listening to yer basic punk/alternative with a pinch of goth: you know, the whole Dickies/Black Flag/Toy Dolls/Circle Jerks thing, plus Husker Du/Soul Asylum/Meat Puppets/Dinosaur/X (oh, I forgot them, I LOVED X!), plus(because I grew up in LA) stuff like the Cure, Echo & the Bunnymen, Bauhaus, Love & Rockets, Ministry, Front 242, blah blah blah.
You're so right about Cream, btw. And GWAR too -- in self-defense, I did say the music sucked, but you're right about ripping off WOW (though GWAR had like six times the number of people up there on stage). Can't really comment on Slayer and Pantera, but my favorite pissing-off-the-neighbors band is probably Ministry or Big Black -- that stuff can really grate on their ears. :-)
Loved the comment about scaring the kids (actually loved your whole post). Have you seen "The Osbournes"? Freaking hilarious.
