Ummm . . . I think that at least video games are interactive and you often have to think about what you are doing (you control the game), and sometimes you have to read stuff in order to know what the story is you have to do throughout the game . . . but you should set a limit as to how long your children play them (maybe one to two hours at a time - with a rest of at leat an hour in between - I'd say 4 hours MAX if it's the weekend - but that's just me. Maybe you ought to lower that number to 2 hours, since kids need time to play and talk after school and do their homework, chores, etc.).

If children sit and play video games all the time, they are spending too much time in the video game 'world' and not enough time in the real world playing more imaginative games (and getting physically active) with their friends and family. Video games can also be highly addictive and kids can play them for hours, even for the whole day, every day!!!! When I was younger, I loved to play the Sega Genesis video game system, but if I played it for too long I would get dizzy and headaches; it strains the eyes and I think it has affected my vision badly. Also, I don't recommend they play games that are really violent. Monitor what your childeren play. If you don't like some of the games they play, tell them and talk to them about it and what you don't like about it. Also, ask why they like a certain video game and how they feel when they play it.

Think about these things before you make your decisions.

I hoped this has helped.
