I wouldn't worry about deciding a major now, personally I think it's kind of silly that they even asked you that, but I suppose maybe they're just trying to get an idea of people's interests. At the first college I went to we had two years to decide our major, and we could change it as many times as we wanted, some people changed their major a number of times. I majored in Communications, but then I ended up getting a second degree from a different school in Graphic Design because that's the career I wanted to pursue.

Yeah don't be afraid of succeeding, if the ACT will help you get a scholarship or other goals then go for it, remember you're doing it for yourself. If you don't succeed in the end give yourself credit since you know you at least tried.
