Subject: Monster-in-law!

Who else has plan to see it this weekend so that we can come here and talk about it next week? I have seen the preview a few times and it seems to be very funny. Also MV smiles, everywhere else that I have seen he has been frowning. Someone should tell him that he has a very nice smile, LOL.

[> I won't be - but then a good part of that is the fact that my father would be very disappointed in me for supporting anything that has to do with Jane Fonda, lol (being a Vietnam era veteran - though he does say getting to see her slapped in the movie might make it almost worth it, LOL!) -- Aria, 16:16:40 05/11/05 Wed [1]

[> [> Yes, that was pretty stupid of her, for what she did. But I also think sometimes media blows some stories out of proportion just to get a higher rating. I wonder if this story was also got too much publicity. -- Rosie, 10:30:01 05/12/05 Thu [1]

[> [> [> well - the thing was there were so many different things she did - and almost any one of them would be enough to make my Dad mad - so he wouldn't listen to that - but then you really can't blame him, lol... -- Aria, 19:54:22 05/12/05 Thu [1]

[> [> [> [> I thought her visit to Hanoi was the only incident that bothered everyone. I did not live in US back in the 70s, but when I saw the footage in a documentary, even now, I thought why she was smiling. She was in the middle of war zone, why was she not taking it more seriously. I have lived in the middle of war zone and I have seen up close the devastating effect of war and there is nothing to smile about. Anyhow, I agree that no one could possible understand your dad except the people that were there with him. I am sure that is a very emotional topic for you dad. So I guess you should boycott the movie, LOL. -- Rosie, 12:01:25 05/13/05 Fri [1]

[> [> [> [> [> no - she spat on the troops when they came home... and I'm not sure if theres really anything else - but all the things she did in Hanoi then... I mean saying that the troops were not being mistreated at all? (and I have to say I have the knowledge all second hand myself as I wasn't born then, lol) -- Aria, 12:44:08 05/13/05 Fri [1]

[> I want to see it, but probably won't until it's at the dollar theater. I don't really go to movies by myself, and my movie partner at work isn't a chick flick girl. It's not getting very good reviews, so I might just wait until DVD to see MV's smile. In the meantime...let us know how it is! -- C, 19:06:25 05/11/05 Wed [1]

[> [> I went to college in a small town. We had a movie theater that also charged $1, their movies where behind the general release though, but they had a new movie every week. One semester I had a lab partner that was into movies too, so every Tuesday, after 3 hours of lab we would walk to town, buy sandwiches and would go see a $1 movie. It was so much fun. -- Rosie, 10:33:30 05/12/05 Thu [1]

[> [> [> Sounds like a place we had in the next big town from where I went to college (our town was way too small to even have a dollar theater) - coolest thing I ever saw at our $1 theater was that they actually showed Monty Python's Search for the Holy Grail last year and I was so excited to see it on the big screen, lol! -- Aria, 19:58:08 05/12/05 Thu [1]

[> LOL! Are we talking of a quirk of the lips? Or an all-out sparkling teeth smile? -- Canrane - not one for romantic comedies at ALL, but just curious about his MV similing phenomenon ;), 13:34:23 05/12/05 Thu [1]

[> I'm going to see the movie tonight. I'll let you know how MV is in the movie. I just can't see him kissing J.Lo. -- Sheila I., 13:26:19 05/13/05 Fri [1]

[> I saw Monster-in-law and loved it! Jennifer Lopez was okay, kind of flat in spots, Jane Fonda was meh, but MV was delicious!!! His bare chest and smile were the highlights of the movie for me. The movie had some comical moments and an endearing ending. I'll buy it on DVD just to see MV's pearly whites over and over again... -- Lisa, 20:31:25 05/22/05 Sun [1]

[> I just saw it last night! Hilarious! J-Lo and J-Fo really did well and played off each other. I'm not a huge Jennifer Lopez fan, but I can appreciate her acting ability. She'll probably never earn an Academy Award but she is entertaining. Michael Vartan was very very hot! Good diversion on a slow Sunday evening so I would recommend it. I give it 3 1/3 out of 5 popcorn bags. -- Sara, 19:10:21 05/23/05 Mon [1]

[> Yes, I liked the movie a lot, too, very funny, and warmhearted at the end there. Fonda absolutely stole that show! It just goes to show that women do get better with age. -- MariMata, 03:59:58 06/04/05 Sat [1]
