I moved out of my parent's house nearly 4 years ago, and I finally just now got all of my stuff out of boxes and into my house. I lived in an apartment for a year, moved back home for 4 months, lived with friends for 5 months, moved back home/wandered aimlessly/was somewhat homelss/lived with a different friend for 3 months, then finally moved into the house I'm at now almost a year go and will probably be here for another year. So I have a lot of experience with moving; and I've never lived in a dorm, so we're talking all furniture, all clothes, all books, all electronics... The thought of having to move again next year makes me want to cry. Though I will hopefully be moving to Hawaii, so that cheers me up again! But I wouldn't even try to unpack everything if you're just going to head back to the dorms again in a few months. I totally agree with Canrane about making the boxes into chairs. Then one day, if you find that you're really bored, you can unpack more stuff and maybe get rid of some stuff you don't need. Though that never helped me. I have such an incredibly large amount of stuff, people are amazed that I moved so much. What they don't realize is that I usually had my stuff spread throughout 3 houses. LOL But not anymore! It's finally all here with me in one house!

[> [> Hee hee you guys are the best. I was able to throw a lot of still-packed boxes into my basement and fully plan on leaving them there until September. Howevvvvver...I didnt pack very well. I didn't have long to do (I waited until the very last minute because I'm just cool like that) so I threw stuff into boxes as I found it laying on my floor. This means my clothes, dvds, jewlery, makeup, and shoes are dispersed throughout random boxes that I guess I now have to go through. I will most CERTAINLY do a more efficient job of packing next year!!! -- Suze, 00:38:57 05/29/05 Sun [1]

[> [> [> Next year you'll be more experienced! I always ended up having "duplicate" stuff that I didn't need once I came home in the summer anyway, so most of the boxes would go straight to the basement until August when it was time to move back again. By your senior year, you'll be a pro at moving/packing efficiently! -- AmandaW, 09:42:12 05/29/05 Sun [1]

[> [> [> [> I agree with Amanda. You seem to move less stuff each year, because you lean what to move and what to discard. Our Daughter left much of her stuff in boxes in the garage/attic over the summer. Other stuff that would not survive the heat of the garage was piled in her room. -- PB, congrats for completing your first year!, 12:23:33 05/29/05 Sun [1]
