"But there is tension between the mainline conservatives in the Republican Party today and the more libertarian type of conservatives."

Very true. And did you ever notice Paleo-Conservatives (if that's what you want to call us) get along great with the Tucker-types. Is Tucker a Libertarian? Yeah.

"The so-called "war on Christmas" is little more than a bogus wedge issue that Republicans have used to make it sound like they're fighting censorship, when virtually the opposite is the case."

I agree. But the tone you take only rallies them all the more. They've already thrown the first punch and got the slogan "War On Christmas" and then you guys go ahead and make their case for them. Don't get all pissy about it and make us about to be dummies incapable of realizing what they are doing.

The whole thing can be diffused positively. Gandhi appealed to what was best about the British. Americans like to share. We know that what is special to us is special to all. Now, this gets De Tocque-villian (sp?). I should make sure since it looks like I may be implying him to be a villain. I'm not. A good American needs his take. What about the minority viewpoint? In a Democracy they can be ignored. Those doing the ignoring don't realize they are doing it. Fair or unfair that's a Democratic Republic at work.

O'Reilly had a Muslim on the other night who was very likable, promised not to get in the way of Chanukah and Christmas but just wanted some wallspace. Bill gave him the wing to the library. The Christians and Jews took the prime hall-space. AS IT SHOULD BE!!!

The Muslim was fuming but he bit his tongue. And you know what, scored some points for his argument.

"I never got a chance to finish watching it. Some of it was quite funny, though I had soon had enough of Andy Dick."

I thought he was good and I usually tire of him quickly as well. Also, it did take me a few minutes to get used to Santa as a bad guy. I chose not to make an issue of it and enjoyed Goldberg's prelude to his love scene as she talked 'dirty' to him. HILARIOUS!!! I didn't get the tunnel-ride beneath the store though. I got it, just didn't dig it. Only part I thought failed.

"No. I'm on the side of those who don't want to censor extremists."

So you feel Ahman deserved his turn at Columbia and that you deserve your turn to state that you don't want him to speak.

You both got to speak. And I side with your groups overall feelings toward him. So, the circus freak was rolled out and I got to laugh. Is that wrong?

"And because the earth isn't flat."

These sailors. YOU KNOW 'EM!? They could have been lying! Or completely made up. So pointing back to them pre-science is irrelevant. I don't feel like being captious today so let's move---WAIT OH YES I DO!!! The story of the old Greek Sailors (LOL!) was invented by a scientist.

"This inference came way before the advent of science."

No it didn't and I just told you why.
"Well, you asked for it."

SO BRING IT!!!!

"That's more or less what the skeptic organizations do, though they'd be a lot less willing to admit their stuff is entertainment."

Do they hate Colbert for his success?

"But I'm still not clear on what you'd prefer to this situation. You say you're offering complaints, not solutions. If that's the case, then we're probably more in agreement than we realize."

Yes, but 'could' something be done? How do you guys do it? Seriously. I know that's an intense education process. The WASPs, too. Our's is pretty good--so long as we keep comparing ourselves to the Public Schools.

Why aren't you for School Choice? I just don't get it! The Public Schools are failing the kids we want to send to private school.

HELLO!!!!

"My point is that the "filtering" of news is inevitable, like it or not. Somebody is going to be filtering it for the masses, because we wouldn't have the time for a free-for-all. The beauty of the Internet is that it has given voice to non-mainstream ideas--for better or worse. In the net (not "Internet"), I think that's a good thing.

">Begrudgingly, I agree. You know what a good idea for a
>movie would be? A black kid raised by two gay white
>men.

It's only around the corner, for sure."

Maybe it is.
