" At what point does mongrelazation occur? How much heterosis can we stand? In you guys opinion, IF a breeder has good, healthy boerboels of good working temperament that can be reproduced reliably...would there be any reason to breed outside? "

First off, I don't think there's a font large enough for that IF unless your using the term "reliably" pretty loosely. You give me one if, i'll not waste it on Boerboels, but I will change the world.

But yea, if you wanted more or less of whatever. These dogs are not specialists, they are biddable. They move your cattle around if you teach em to, they'd just as soon leave em be if you taught em that, or kill em em if you encouraged that.
I don't think herding is in their DNA their not collies, hell you're the only guy I know on either continent claiming to use em to that end.

" working ability " in a boerboel means what ? in my mind if it doesn't mean a desire to please the owner, and maybe some innate instinct and willingness to protect, it doesn't mean much. If you can get some smarts the more the better. If you can get healthy dogs ta boot you've defied the odds big time.

if the dog does all you want it to do you're done, if you want more or less of something find it in another boerboel, or find it another breed.

Are you asking these questions to toot your horn ? You know all this.

If your gonna claim to be satisfied with the breed as it stands.....

Even if only on your yard, then I'm left wondering what you'd claim in private, or what you want to send me to prove it.

And, by the way, if that handsome beast valiant is 32 inches at the shoulder, my Kangal is 37" you're 6'5" and I'm growing younger by the day. That or he's a vary nimble 190 lbs. :)
