Not that there would be any statistics :)

But I find it hard to imagine a wolf or a coyote dying of bloat.

I think it's a result of people breeding for exaggeratedly deep chests, I.E. it's a show dog thing. Nothing born of function.

If I were king nobody would be allowed to staple stomachs and the problem would eliminate it self in short order.

But alas I'm not king and stapled studs will be a plenty.
