In reply to: Fan-no-more! 's message, "It is so easy to believe in corruption after Destiny and our current winner were chosen over more accomplished, educated and equally pretty women, some of whom were shorter but brighter and more “ four point of a crown” material." on Friday, February 02, 09:10:47am

Wow......it is just sad that you are still bitching about the results for someone who deserved to win 3 years later. As for Kathleen, that is a different story. It is obvious that Hannah pulled for her with the judges. Regardless, it is rude to continue to put her down and obvious that you have nothing better to do. As for Destiny, her talent was by far the best I have ever seen from a Miss Maryland. I will never forget the beautiful classical pieces she performed during her give up. Don’t you dare say one more time that a girl with THAT kind of talent didn’t deserve to win. There is no doubt in my mind especially after the night I heard her sing “Nella Fantasia”....if you weren’t there look it up on Youtube.

Did you ever notice how she did every event alone and that her parents were never around.......completely opposite to how Hannah did her appearances? That’s because her dad died as a result of 9/11 and she didn’t have anyone......She paid for everything by herself and had been on her own since 17 years old......Something I doubt any of you could do without your parents money or security blanket. Bottom line, she deserved this opportunity more than anyone on stage that year.... who were ungrateful spoiled brats and sore losers.....sponsored by their parents.

Now look at her, she has used her scholarship money to go back to school and not only is she continously on the Deans List, she is changing lives as a preschool teacher......while you do nothing but be miserable and live in the past. Get a grip and move on with your life. Or better yet try to actually get to REALLY know the people you condemn along with their stories before you make assumptions.

If Kathleen, with her absent talent and very modest community service could win, than it is fair to assume that results are just a whim of someone who can influence the outcome, or simply speaking, that final results can be fixed. Besides, when Destiny won, almost all the contestants showed her some unprecedented hostility. I doubt that it was because all of them were “sour losers.” Some of these girls were competing for five/ seven years, had never won, but were always gracious about loosing. The hostility was due to double standards and favoritism that this board and Sherry had demonstrated. All the contestants were under huge pressure to be always on time and not to bring any relatives or boyfriends to their hotels. Everyone complied. Everyone, except Destiny. We all know her story and feel sorry for her. But it didn’t help when her pictures in skimpy clothes with wads of tip cash ( that patrons usually tack inside club dancer’s underwear) began circulating. People have right to accept or disprove the results. If Hanna was deserving — she barely got any criticism, although not everyone liked her personality. The very fact that those in charge turned a blind eye on Destiny’s transgressions and shortcomings made people vent their frustration the only way they could. Hence, all the hostility and mean comments. I feel that Destiny could have won fair and square and be very popular queen had she put more efforts into her education, and community service instead of focusing on USA system. ( And please don’t tell me about her hardships! Many people have tough financial and family situations. But they take loans and chose jobs that more appropriate for a role model.) In any case, it is not about any particular winner, it is about perceived lack of honesty and integrity of this particular organization.

[> [> [> [> Subject: Stop with the lies!!! Destiny was an amazing Miss Maryland! If she actually did any of the things you are accusing her of, the board would have certainly found out and stripped her of her title. If you would just take the time to REALLY GET TO KNOW DESTINY you would know that this is all nonsense and know the truth! Stop being loons and living in the past. If it still bothers you this much go have a conversation with her.... sheesh.

Ugh more lies...... She never danced in a night club with wads of cash in her underwear?! Wtf is wrong with you people? Stop with that stupid nonsense. You are painting her out to be some type of stripper?! She would have never stooped so low.. She was a DANCER, nothing more.... she danced and also sang for a talent agency at many different venues and wore nothing less then what many of our former contestants who are currently cheerleaders wear. And no one seems to have a problem with them booty poppin in their dance routines.... so this statement is such a double standard.... She did what she could to make a living with zero assistance and no parental guidance or adult support, and for the most part, I think she was very responsible about her decisions. She literally worked herself from the ground up. Most girls that come from her situation either wind up on drugs, knocked up, or on the streets. She didn’t spend enough time on her education?! That’s because she couldn’t... she worked 4 and 5 jobs at a time just to keep a roof over her head, including having worked at a child care center for several years. If she could have taken out a loan she would have!! If you actually do your research instead of relying on your parents to do everything for you, you would know that most loans require a co-signer...... so without parents she obviously couldn’t take one out which logically explains her not being able to attend college for a few years. It would have been impossible for her to work multiple jobs and attend college simultaneously. Why do you think she decided to compete in the first place?! But guess what? Now she is getting one while teaching as a preschool teacher and she is continuously on the Deans List! If anything a story like Destiny’s should make you feel proud to be a part of this organization because of the possibiility it gave a girl who came from nothing to get an education. I would think that would be a form of validation for you and everything you hypocritically share on social media about this organiztion..... If she actually did any of the things you are accusing her of, the board would have certainly found out and stripped her of her title. The night she was crowned, it was apparent that the board was scared of her and the possibility of all of these lies being true. They dug the deepest in her past more than any other former Miss Maryland and you could see in Sherrys face that she wasn’t exactly the happiest when she won because she was afraid. It was only a few months before it was apparent on FB that her and Destiny became extremely close. The same with Bayuk. If she was so terrible do you think they would still be close?! Sherry still posts things about missing her....that in itself says a lot. The entire board also came onstage during her give up and were crying. You know why? Because THEY GOT TO KNOW HER! Destiny had to also deal with that nightmare because you loons created it. If anything Destiny deserves a major apology but it seems you are all too immature to give to her.

Did any of you ever try to have a sit down or lunch with her to express your grievances or misunderstandings? It seems like you may still need some closure since you are still making Voy posts about this 3 years later? It is extremely unhealthy to still hold grudges and so much hatred inside? If you don’t deal with it now, it will never go away. Why put yourself through that? Don’t you want peace? She is still in Maryland so I’m sure it wouldn’t be that hard to do so? But it seems no one really cares to do that because you want to believe what you want to believe to feel better about yourself and the results.

Also stop using the fact that 20 girls refusing to clap supports that she is this “monster” you made up. What they did was more of an embarrassment to themselves than her....so it seems that their immaturity bit them in the butt. At least there were a few that decided to clap and show some class.... something I would think you would have learned from “your years of competing.” It’s not like it was over 100 girls like most of the other state pageants. They were all in the same “clique” and competed for many years together so it’s not rocket science as to why they would stick together! I’m sure they also behaved the way they did though because they probably didn’t understand Destiny. They were mainly high school girls, so it’s not surprising that they twisted everything she said or did merely to create gossip and drama. Again if she was this bad why was she so close with the Miss America contestants or some of the contestants she competed with at Miss MD USA? Hmmm maybe that’s because they weren’t a part of your “clique” and got to know her!

As for rules being broken, it was her first year for crying out loud! I would expect her to struggle with timing and getting ready.....that takes a few years to master, especially in the pageant world LOL! How much time could she have possibly put into her platform her FIRST YEAR?! Don’t sit here and act holier than thou..... how many mistakes did most of you make your first year?! Instead of behaving small you all could have tried to kindly help her instead of talking behind her back about it. But no, at the end of the day girls will be girls......you didn’t because she was still competition so to make yourselves feel better you put her down and that is just a weak move. Grow up and take a look in the mirror.... you are better than that and you know it. She’s definitely different than most but is not a bad person....certainly aloof sometimes though LOL but no one is perfect! They do say that people who come from traumatic backgrounds can come off that way though because they disassociate a lot when overwhelmed or experiencing a lot of anxiety so maybe that explains why she can be like that at times.....either that or she is your stereotypical musician or artist LOL. Regardless she is one of the most genuine, kind, and humble people I know and she doesn’t tolerate bs or fake people. Therefore, I refuse to watch you still harass and tear her down after all of these years and the hell you put her through. If you would take the time to REALLY get to know her and stop being so looney you would benefit greatly from having a friend like her. It feels good to not have to pretend in front of someone for once and I don’t have to in front of her. Maybe her being an honest, thoughtful person throws people off because a lot of people aren’t that way..... I certainly thought there was something behind it at first but once I got to know her I realized the truth. You just have to take the time to put your insecurities and assumptions aside, open up, and get to know her. I mean have you seen her Instagram? She feeds squirrels and had a pet praying mantis for crying out loud LOL If that doesn’t say enough about her I don’t know what else does. I hope this provides some insight and that you learn some empathy. Please stop tearing down our current or former Miss Marylands! As women lets raise each other up, and be a positive example in our own lives.
