I think its about time a woman took power dont you guys think???? Just look at wapenamanda there is no development and the MP's most of the time are in POM and not at home (waps). Maryanne as currently opened her own private clinic for the people. So why dont we all start thing of developing Wapenamanda rather then doing nothing about it.

Cheers!!!!

Before i welcome everyone's comments, this is an honest question too. Where have you people lived? I've never heard these names before for my entire lives that i've lived in Waps. Not only Maryanne Tokome -Amu but everyone apart from Masket and Miki. Did she build her own buildings to start up her medical centre or just the same old wanza's building. Am curious too, mate.

Iam not from Enga but it is sad to see how educated people of Wapenamanda fail to recognise their elites who have through hard times achieved success. Many of us non Wapenamanda people know excactly who Maryanne Tokome-Amu.
For your infor: she is Yakuman, health service consultant, first person to get a Master of Science in Primary Health care ( talk about her clinic, only she can do it better). Loved by thousands of patients and colleagues all over the world.

have her working life, she was a manager in health in PNG and overseas so hey, wake up Waps. Vote her in as if you don't remember she has nothing to losse, I believe she is giving Wapenamanda a good chance for choice.

for those who don't know her, you are not from Wapenamanda.

Guys,we have given enough chances to men to develop the Wapenamanda but have done nothing, even Iangalio, the longest server. stori blo tubuna "klinim haus dowa pastaim". Iangalio talked about national development but no district development. even his own house is surrounded by tall grass.

miki kaeok has'nt done anything yet.

I think maranne tokome-Amu is right. lets now give time to women and she how they do and later we draw conclusions about women.

This is radiculous, big laugh when doing this infront of the people of Wapenamanda's main bus stop. Where have you guys been for so long and doing this when election is around the corner. people of Wapenamanda are not that barbarians where you can make fool out of them. Its you making yourself fool when starting such fake infront. Once election is over, the whole wanza building will then back to its usual gosht house.

People are blind doing this while at the back looks barbarians to them.

Fellow Engans,

We need to be reasonable, it is unreasonable to think everyone should be like us, live in the village, not pursue city life or higher educational studies.
In fact life in the world has moved way ahead, the PNG government is struggling to move the country into the global economic village. When you see reforms like privitisation, creation of authorities and customary land reform registration, these are all part and partial of it.

If Wapennamanda and Enga want to move in time and maybe ahead of the rest of PNG we need determined leaders with current knowledge on modernisation and development. Don't down grade leaders who have been in departmental head, CEO positions and properous consultant, etc. These people have toiled for years in public life and have proven track records. We need to subpress our preconceived ideas about them and listen to their policies and vision for a better Enga.

Enga is beginning to reap the sowing of past election-time LAMP FLAG culture in the face of deteriorating social services like roads, health, educational infrastructures and continuous tribal fight.

Wapenamanda, Enga and PNG will become a slave in the global economy if educated elites start thinking I should be the next candidates for elections to come. We need to be open minded about candidates' intentions and use our reasoning powers to make sense in our brain cells.

Lets all think together that Enga needs to move forward. Again, I say, educate your household, maybe your clan to vote a visionary candidate with your help.

Ummmm, which hole have you ass holes been at. I have personally met her. She is a very nice caring and very understanding person. If you don’t know her then it’s about time you tried to. Don’t just go judging someone you don’t know or haven’t heard of. And the clinic is to provide medical help to people who cannot go to mambis. All I can say is get to know her first and start making your accusations of who she is.

But I am not sure if the village people will have the money to pay for services at her private clinic?

She is a person who believe's in making Png a better place if you or anyone just took the time and asked her questions and stuff you will come to know how wise she is. If it wasnt for her I would be still in the village. People should not judge someone without knowing somone dont you all think.

Angela,

Be of a cheerful heart if you know someone with a nice true heart. Defend your friend in the nicest way as possible, as this is the best you can give to your friend. We need to learn from one another in this forum. Let me say this; How can one learn patience, the only way is to put ourselves to the 'Test of Patiency' pls talk and approach people with humility in this forum. Education does not only enable people to speak english and write but right education humbles the heart of a person. I would say this right education is required to change Enga.

When people start a humble beginning in life, that does not neccessarily mean that the intention is to be a MP one day. Good enough if they decide to join the race, afterall Wapenamanda or Enga will decide. When people ask me and say they want to join the election band, I always say, be your best but don't create someone else out of you, because people do read other people.

Yes, Peace my sister.

Engan Lenge

Angela, I am not implying that she is dumb. Its an honest question to ask - after all if I want to start a private medical clinic, I have to know my market population right?

Do my patients have a steady source of income to afford my services?

I just dont see how village people could afford to pay for private medical care? Believe me, if you want to bring health services to the rual people, a private medical clinic is definitely not the way.

And its good to know that she helped you to where you are now.

Let me remind all of you of the facts that surround Papua New Guinea, and you will be able to accept the facts that Enga is not doing so bad. I know there is lots of negative image about our province but, i have travelled around a bit throughout the country, (i guess some of you did also, and you will apprecite what i am about to say).

Compare the Highlands with the coastal provinces of Papua New Guinea. Just over 50 years ago, Europeans led by the Leahy brothers entered the Highlands. You guess when the Europeans arrived at the coastal villages? Some of these provinces are celebrating their more than 100 years of missionary presence.

Compare this with the road systems. Right at the nose in the Capital city, take a look at the outskirts of the city's road networks. Some are inaccessible when it is raining. You drive down to Rigo mainland and you will appreciate Engas road networks. Tell me how many people in and around Port Moresby own PMV buses.. etc.. etc.. Compare the silent millionaires that are coming up from the Province, and the intellectual capacity that is being build every year. Compared to a lot of other provinces Enga is one of the top provinces with lots of intellectual outputs. Mind you, not more than 50 years ago Europeans have come to our land and now we have people living all over the world, doing buisiness and working and studying.

Road networks in Enga are much better than some other provinces that i have travelled.

All i am saying is, lets all not dwell on the negatives all the time, and smell the roses. The moon is seen from one side of the world in a given season, however, it cant be seen from the other side of the world, be it you are looking from the South or the North. Likewise, if you always live in a dream world on the side of negatives, you build a tendency to complain and be impatient with small things. If you dwell on the positives, you will always see sunshine through the clouds.

An Engan has opened her doors to do business in Enga. I salute her for seeing things in a positive way. Many bright Engan would say, why waste her effort in a place where there is not much development going on. I'd say, she hasnt seen the cloud, but the sunshine beyond the clouds. Such positive attitude is needed to drive our province forward. I salute her for her courage.

One person asked in one of the postings, why does this forum have a lot of postings on politics. I believe Engans love their politics, however, Engan fail to understand the difference between Politics, business and surviving in a competitive world. Politics and businesses does not go together. Politics is for those who feel called to it. You cant become a politician because you seem to be the only educated person from a tribe and you are forced to stand for it. If you do, you wont serve the people well. Politics is a calling, if you feel the urge inside you, that you would be a great leader, and you have all this visions to develop Enga, why not.

Education does not warrant someone to contest the elections. I know, we need educated people in Parliament, but if an educated person is not a born leader he, would be like some other small time villagers too. Born leaders, have a vision to drive the needs of the people to the National Government. I very mush disagree with people who stand for elections because they got money, finished a PHD or masters, etc..etc.. If you have a vision, and that vision is driving you.. go for it..

Think positive Engan.. Enga is only 50 years old...in terms of European entering our beloved province. We havent done bad. In the next 20 years, you will see the real changes and you will appreciated it..

For 31 years, men have taken us astray. Those women like Nancy and others bear in mind that at least Maryanne is giving very strong awareness on good goverance in Wapenamanda, would you do what she is doing, not all of us women have the courage like her so I believe she is representing me in Waps. My Number 1 vote for you, we your patients love you ( mighty women with healing hands)

You know if you dont know her you should just not write stuff like this coz I dont know what you are trying to prove. One thing what do you mean by "Instead, give good policies that can be achieved" Achived by bribeing villages with money is that the right way to go. Apart from you low class telling maryanne to be real why dont you go say it to her face? As far as I know she is more real than the size of your little head which seems to be still developing

Kumbas pigstreet,

I will be honest with you. I have not visited the clinic yet so I am asking. Sure if I come around to Waps during x-mas breaks will pop around and see whats happening and make my final decision.

Look, I support the clinic. And thats a good thing for bussiness in Waps and Enga. And offers an alternative for those who want private medical care. I have no problem with that.

I am just wondering what a coinsidence that the clinic opens with the general election around the corner?? It may be just pure coincidental but just asking. Thinking aloud here....

My conscience would not allow me to open a private clinic in Waps, simple because I would feel guilt asking a simple villager to pay for 1 week dose of antibiotic or anti-helminthic medication when I am fully well aware that they do not have a salary package every forthnight.

I would rather help them to make use of that money to take preventative measures eg. buy a tank to store rain water for clean drinkng water, build a proper toilet for better hygiene, or improve and better design the traditional housing so that they do not have to suffer painfull death when they are 50 years from cor pulmonale as a result of inhaling smoke inside the houses, or...I can go on and on here...

I am not negative. I just want to simple see a better and cost-effective health care to our people.

peace

For those who seem to be intellectually poor, very little or no concept about their world around them must see Dr.T Limbiame's comment about this high achieving internationally recognised, proven track record women-Maryanne. Has your your old Lapun got a degree?let alone a masters degree, maybe you might want to ask him. 15 years of sitting around and building his own empire in defence of emerging young talents rocking his status-quo,you can't teach an old dog new tricks-We live in a changing world with a booming information technology with men and women who have innovative ideas and skills with productive outcome-Maybe you might want to define the following words;innovation,invention,enterpreneurship,macro-economics,inflation,GDP,interest rates, stock market & share markets- Moreover would Miki have a clue about all these,by the time he looks at the first word,he probably will suffer from migrains. Maryanne's no average men/women so stop joggling around with your pre-school vocabularlies, save it for your mum it might by you a K2-00 lamp flaps. Can't you see,she is providing service to hundreds and hundreds of people, saving their lives. If these people were given a choice between election and death ,would they choose election? not only has she created 5 local jobs for Wapenamanda citizens who are feeding their families and elatives, even more astounding and unarguably charitable is that she is committing her personal wealth into funding this clinic-no government support what so-ever. This is an iron woman we talking and only time will tell whether she is in for the long or the short haul. Don't take cheap shorts at her guys, you are your worst enemy. Let's look from outside the square and think of more local and foreign investments which will generate more jobs ,more money and more economic activities and hence, improve our depleting living standards. "GET THE IDEA????????"

Tata,
You seem to have come out of a pig's ass.I wonder whether you are a public servant or some belittled,self-centered,knowledge deprived,less-brainer,shit-stirer classroom bound prick.Think laterally and see from outside the square, then only can you judge with fairness in it's totality. We don't need bludgers on this chatroom, we simply need smart, intelligent, unbiased, uncompromising and honest opinions about peoples backgrounds, career achievements, qualifications, depth of experiences, intergrity and the temperament, these are the traits of people that Wapenamanda needs in Parliment.Dont you worry about the clinic because thats a family business and it will live on.Can you see Maryannes more than a woman! She can run a clinic and run her compaign too.gee...shes smarter than your old, out-of-touch lapun. Maybe hes a good candidate for the veterans club.Dont be stupid buddy! Can you Tata define what a Leader is and give us some of the qualities that you would like to see?

Cheers!

Mad Max.

Mad Max, I support you, give that sensless guy some more. He or she needs to be educated. Maybe he/she must be one of those lapun's briefcase carrier or backyard cleaner.

Kumbas_pigstreet.

Lapun's days are over and if they have done nothing for 15 years they will never do anything again. Talk sense and think about other people. You are like your folks who throw away votes for a await lapun at topelya juction for a K2 to buy a packet of rice.

Is this the lady that lives in Aussi or something...?
Hey! don't get me wrong, just curious. Can someone tell the group what her intensions are and the reasons behind contesting or going into politics..???

I'd give my vote#1 if I'm convinced.

Well just go to wapenamanda and they will direct you to her and I am sure she will tell you the reasons behind her contesting. If any contestent does not have a good enough reason to stand then why should they both at the first place.

What has your lapun Iangalio done for you and Wapenamanda people. He is from the very heart of Wapenamanda and served 15 years as MP. What development has he done. NOTHING. Where are the 15 years EDF gone. All in his pocket, right? Even Miki Kaeok will never do anything if he wins again through Ipatas' money in the counting room in Wabag. Don't talk about these two and think of some sensible thinking people. Not ones going down to be overnight millionaires.

STOP TALKING ABOUT MARYANNE TOKOME –AMU
TALK ABOUT WAPENAMANDA

Why talk about Maryanne Tokome -Amu like this with all your 'what I may coin as' - CYBER VIEWS. Contesting the Elections is not a Gender issue, male nor female. Maryanne Tokome-Amu being a female does not restrict her from running the elections, this is a democratic nation and if she as chosen to run for the elections, that's it, it’s her democratic right and there is absolutely nothing wrong with it.

Also, what’s wrong with the Clinic she as set up right in the heart of Kumbas Market? If it is politically motivated, so be it. For or Against Debate concerning the operations of this clinic has become the issue for justifying Maryanne Tokome –Amu which is to me immature. Politics is Politics and what she has done, with what ever intensions is all up to her. Whether she wins or looses is none of your problem. Some of you, come election time, I can tell you in your face that you won’t be home (Wapenamanda) to cast your celebrity votes so stop writing here as if your votes are what will be missing for some candidate to win.

But for each of you who are hovering here in this Forum and posting ideas, I challenge you to come up to Wapenamanda if you can make it when to some degree, election related activities are at their peak and personally tell Maryanne Tokome –Amu that she is wasting her time or even ask her why she has set up the Clinic. Maryanne Tokome –Amu has been at home (Wapenamanda) campaigning so I am pretty sure she will spare some time and answer your doubts.

Complains about her living in Aussie, well, what’s wrong with that? Are we saying that she made a mistake by transferring to work in Aussie or she living and working in Australia a stolen right that belongs to someone else? How can we possibly argue about her private life and how she earns her living? It’s her brains that brought her that far and what right have you got to make mention of her personal achievements. As I said, come home and ask her why she is running for this 2007 elections?

There is so much going on currently in Wapenamanda as the elections are just around the corner. It is a rumour that 15+ candidates are contesting the up coming elections and a surprising reaction by the people from Wapenamanda, Task and Lower Lai, exhibits a much confused populace. Candidates are seen being vocal about their race but generally, the people are quite now and keeping things to their own minds/hearts to cast the vote only when the time is right. Even though the national elections for 2007 are a couple of sleeps away, it is apparently eminent that the LPV voting system is yet to be fully comprehended by our local folks in the villages.

I ask us to talk about the LPV voting system and how it’s going to affect our normal way of voting in the past because to me, it looks like those that all of us think will win this 2007 Wapenamanada will not but someone who is totally unexpected will return to POM, House Of Parliament after the elections as MP for Wapenamanda, now lets talk about this, starting with the LPV issue back home.
