Pure jealousy and big-man and pride mentality is a great killer in our province. Take a look around and you will see that most Engans dont want someone else to be successful in life, because it kind of challenegs their own inadequacy.

Above all, few Engans have a tendency that, seeing someone excel in education, business and job makes the other person feel uneasy and jealous driven all over. It is such attitude that needs to change in our province if we have to move forward and build a civilised society in Enga.

When there is a tribal fight, opportunist aim to burn down the business or school or kill the most educated person in the enemy tribe, because they feel threathened. This mentality is displayed in public offices also. Isaac Lupari is a qualified Engan who is capable of handling the task, but our of jealousy and the engraved behavioural problem of a few Engans, he was let down.

If Enga has to develop and move forward, every Engans need to celebrate the achievements (be it in education, business, job, etc) of Engans. Engans need to congratulate and Engan son or daughter who is encelling, and that is the key to a civilised society where respect becomes the norm of the day.

If however, we allow jealousy and back-stabbing become the norm of the day, we surely will find our dear province moving backwards rather than forward looking. No wonder, we have few tin-roofed residential homes and business in our own villages because of such attitudes that tries to bring down those who are excelling.

People dont realise the, when someone excells, the spin off benefits are great for the rest of the society as a whole. It is greed and selfishness that makes a society sickening.

If our MPs are playing politics with appointments as such, i believe one of this days they will stand to face the same judgement. It is not far off.. just a month away for them to see themselves in the same mirror.

I too was saddened by the NEWS that Isaac Lupari was not considered by Somare due to plain jealousy from two of our selfish leaders.

However, I think it is a blessing in disguise. As pointed out above, it is indeed "mad rush hour" in PNG politics and capable Engans like Mr. Lupari should not grab this false opportunity without foresight. We all know it is election time and the Somare government is doing this insane political maneouvres to leverage its prospects of forming the next government. Obviously it needs highlands Mps support to regain control after elections.

However, if the next government is made up of people other than the current government Isaac Lupari's chances of remaining in that post will be slim as we all know new governments in PNG always come with their own people. Hence it is good that Mr. Lupari is not considered now for that big post.
