It happened again last night. I was busy and didn't take the 5-HTP right after supper. Next thing I knew I was in the throws of wanting to eat everything in sight. I had had a a nice big salad with shrimp and it filled me up...but the crunch cravings were attacking within an hour after supper. I was opening and closing the fridge and the cupboards over and over...pacing, looking for something...then I sort of went "duh!" and took the 5-htp. I had my half a grapefruit and even 2 little cups of sugar free jello (10 calories each)...and I realized I was OK and didn't feel the ravenous urge anymore. And let me tell you usually when it hits there is no end to it...no 1/2 a grapefruit and 2 tiny containers of SF jello squelch it. I have to believe the 5-HTP is what is making the difference. There isn't anything else that I have changed/added that would explain it. In the past I have tried waiting for the urge to pass (the 15 minute rule that I have read about) but that hasn't worked.

I know the supplement is expensive...but think about all the food you won't be consuming to satisfy those urges to binge/munch. There must be cheaper sources to buy it from like on-line, also. i am going to try looking into that since I am taking it twice a day. I take it before breakfast as well as after supper. I am often home alone for most of the day and it is easy to munch my way through the day if I am not careful. But without a doubt the evenings had been the worst for me until trying this supplement.

I used to have this little saying on the refridgerator that said, "it's easy to lose weight....just don't put it in your mouth!" It sounds so simple. But the urge to eat can be so overpowering. I don't know if it is emotional or chemichal or what ...but the battle is won and lost at the lips. If a supplement like this can cut the urge to splurge then it can help us make it just that simple, and do-able.

My in-laws are coming for the weekend....lots of stress....pass the 5-htp!

hugs,
Dreemy
