Well, I still was having a terrible problem with uncontrolled eating. It started on a Monday night and by Friday night I was pretty disgusted with myself. Sunday morning I weighed in 5 lbs UP. I had been reading about other types of diet regimes on Saturday and on Sunday decided to give the atkins diet a try. I had a lot of reservations about doing it and I am such a fruit and veggie lover i had previously doubted I even could do it for one day. However, I didn't think I had anything to lose (pardon the pun) to try it right now since you aren't supposed to have to count calories or weigh foods and can pretty much eat all you want of protein foods. I figured if I was in a mode of not being able to stop eating I may as well give this a try. Going the way i was I was just going to keep gaining weight that was for sure. So I am trying this out under the heading of "what the hey". My husband is away till Friday, and the kids, my mom and I are snowed in.

I am on my second day. Today, after one day I was back down 2 and a half lbs of the 5 I had re-gained. I didn't excercise yesterday. Yesterday I ate bacon and an eggs and cheese omlet for breakfast. I was absolutely not hungry at all after that for hours. I had tuna with real mayo and a small amount of celery and onion in it on a small bed of greens with newman's olive oil dressing for lunch. I had a snack of an oz. of cheddar cheese in the afternoon. For supper I had broiled salmon and a small side salad with the newman's dressing. (newman's has no sugar in it). But last night I as usual (for the past week) I wanted to nosh into the night....so i had another piece of cheese. then I took some shrimp and cooked them up with galic and pepper in real butter. It seemed very rich and incredibly indulgent. I had about 7 shrimp...fairly small. After that, I didn't want more food. I made herb tea and went to bed around midnight.

Today was different. i woke up a few times this morning but went back to sleep and didn't end up getting up for good till after 11 AM!!! When I finaly got around to making breakfast it was around 12:30. This time the bacon and eggs breakfast didn't satisfy my hunger. About an hour later I was frying up canadian bacon to munch on. Then a very small piece of celery with maybe a teaspoon of peanut butter. I felt like I was pigging out. I munched on a few raw cashews here and there and then about 10 of my husband's stash of roasted peanuts! I ate "lunch" around 3 PM and had the same as yesterday with the tuna and small bed of greens cause I like that. It's around 4:30 and I haven't felt like eating since then, and still don't. I am thinking less about food than I was on the wendy plan. On the wendy plan I was positively hyper-focused on food. But I am having a hard time believing I can lose weight eating fattening foods like bacon and real mayo and real butter. these are things I have not been used to eating for years and years much less for the past 8 months. This is definitely not a diet for vegetarians. One would quickly get sick of eggs and cheese if they didn't like meat. the recomendation is to try to stay under 20 grams of carbs for the first 2 weeks. (that is if I make it that long).

My mom is visiting and has been doing her normal fixing of foods here....large bowls of cut up fruit and melons.....big luscious salads.....now she is cooking a big pot of bean and ham soup. I can't eat any of this. Maybe this is a blessing in disguise since I might have been tempted to overeat all of these things. I am trying to stay away from the kitchen.

I will keep you posted and let you know how this atkins thing is going. I am skeptical but up for the experiment. I am going to go downstairs (and brave the kitchen vicinity) and do my dancercize. This will make my cat Tabitha very happy, since there are no critters to entertain her with this blizzard outside....lol!

hugs and high-protein,
dreemy
