seems very quiet around here...I suppose everyone is caught up in the whole "summer" thing! I know I am.

I have come to the conclusion (although I hated to admit it lol) that I really really need to excersize regularly. Within this last summer, I am trying to be aware of EVERYTHING (mind, body, soul etc) to be the best I can, really more than ever before. I have been aware of certain foods that make me feel crappy (lazy, tired, lethargic and gross) and also certain habits. I have been having way too many aches and pains and annoyances (headaches, backaches, stomach upset)and realized that a lot of these things are probably very FIXABLE within myself.

Last month the doctor said she thinks I have IBS, and I was like "Yeah...ya think?" hehe (I seem to have chronic stomachaches sometimes!). So I've been very concious of things that I put into my mouth that upset my stomach, and I came to a lot of realizations. (Too much soy, too much artificial sweetener like splenda, any oily or fried or even slightly greasy food, heavy dairy all set up some sort of uncomfortability.) I realized that when I am lazy about my food intake and what I put into my body, I generally notice a lot more stomach upset than when I stick to whole grains, fruit and veggies, fiber, etc. I have far fewer bouts of IBS when I eat these things. The other night I went to Friendly's with some girlfriends, and I ate a few of my friend's fries. BIG MISTAKE! I felt awful all night. I realize that unless I want to be sick to my stomach, I have to generally steer clear of certain foods! The way they taste is SO not worth the consequences of being sick to my stomach.

I also notice that if I eat certain things at specific times of day I'll feel bad. For instance, I was having special K cereal with berries on some mornings, and not only did I feel "heavy" in my stomach afterwards, for the entire rest of the morning and part of the afternoon I felt lazy and lethargic. I realized that it probably had to do with the refined sugar in the cereal and probably also the milk (my mother brought up this point; she is very sensitive to dairy). So, this morning when I craved my cereal fix (I get really sick of egg whites and even the cheese blintzes Dreemy recommended!)I did the hot oatbran cereal (also a Dreemy-ism) with berries and SOY milk. (Picked up a nice big carton of light vanilla soy milk...we'll see how it goes). It is now almost noon and I feel really great. No upset stomach, no lethargy. And I'm not the least big hungry. I was a little nervous about the soymilk, but it was really great, and I only had a little so I don't think it will bother my stomach. I didn't notice the difference, taste-wise. AND I really ENJOYED the cereal A LOT.

Also I began doing yoga again (I used to do it very regularly about 2 years ago.) and it felt soooooo good. It was just as lovely as getting a full body massage. My body felt so open and supple and free of aches and pains. Of course, the next day I was quite sore but I think I feel healed enough today to resume the routine. Am wondering though, how to incorporate cardio? We have a treadmill, and the school I am going to at the end of the month has a gym open to all the students...so...any suggestions?

I am going to turn 21 in about 2 months. And, at the end of this month I am going to experience a complete lifestyle change (moving away from home, new school, new town, etc). I realize that dealing with health issues will not make these transitions any easier, so I must do what I can to take good care of myself. I feel that not only will it lessen stress, it will help me to perform better all around! So, in addition to the things I'm talking about here, I am OF COURSE open to any and all suggestions!

Thanks soooo very much!

Peace,
Scarlet
