Destination Unknown: Strays slightly, but not beyond the fanfic scope. Knows the characters
very well, although again, stretching the scope to fit the ship IMHO. Original to me. Never
read a BG fic before. There is a back story to explain the action. Can't comment on the
spelling and grammer. A few clunky wheels. Naration is smooth.

Overall score: Very good / 80

Destination Unknown*NEW*
Good story, interesting idea about the crystal, likeed the bonding between Giles and Buffy in England. Also like the interactions between Buffy and Angel, as well as Cordy and Angel

Downside, the ending where Buffy and Giles got together seemed a bit forced. I think it would have worked better is it has been allowed to develop slowly, this story could as easily have ended with an acknowledgement of changed feeling and desire. If not that, Giles could have shown a bit more of his Ripper side, dealing with Buffy.

I enjoyed this story a lot. It had an interesting plot an weaved together bothe BtVS and AtS. The one thing that enjoyed me was how Yahtzee would hint at things but not tell the whole story (am I the only one who am dying to know what happened to Spike?). I've never really liked B/G, and thought that they had a better father/daughter relationship then romantic one, but this story was well done.

82/100

I've never read a B/G fanfic before! The story is well written, and has a great potential, but it's too short. I think this ship needs a slower development. The two first chapters are really very good but the third disappointed me. The end is hurried.

The story would be better with two or three chapters more, with characters realizing the change in their feelings thanks to little things, details, wondering what happens, and eventualy coming to terms with the romantic and sexual implications! The interest in this relationship lies in how they can acknowledge it and the way they can deal with.
We already know how much they love each other, how much they care about each other. Now there, they are supposed to become mates. But the author doesn't show enough the falling in love, how they start to see each other in a different way, as a man and a woman, with seduction and desire. I don't find this Giles very attractive here, and yet HE IS a very attractive man.

Really too short!

Despite never having read a B/G fic before, I enjoyed this one. Good characterisations and such, although occasionally the continuity lost me. Nearing the end it became rushed, and it could have been extended out a bit more. Then again, that could be just my opinion. It is however a good fic to introduce someone to the pairing.

This was the ship, on first glance, I was least anxious to read. I like the paternal relationship Giles and Buffy share, especially since she has a schmuck of a father. Positive father role models are scarce on TV in general, and Buffy in particular. But I was pleasantly surprised at how much I like this story, and much of it has to do with the giftedness of the writer.

This story is built on canon, and believably adds to it in a logical and convincing way. Characterizations were well drawn, and in line with how we know them. I still think, however, that Buffy would have been a bit more freaked out when she realized her feelings for Giles; more detail on her experiences in the intervening years linked to seeing herself as mature way beyond her years would have made her reaction more authentic to me. Giles’ reaction was well within his character. I particularly liked the way the author portrayed Angel and Cordy. And, of course, I wanted more information on Spike. Yahtzee’s style [trademark?], though, seems to be to drop tantillizing tidbits into a story with little explanation.

The plot was interesting [even though Yahtzee claims there is none] and I liked her invention of the surfboarding crystal. It was nicely original. The writing was exceptional and well crafted.

There was a limitation, though, for me and I’m not quite sure what it is. The story lacked the passion of Phoenix Burning. It needed some ZING. I am not sure how or what, but it needed some kind of hook to keep me wanting more.

I would recommend this.

I found this story very enjoyable. The relationship between Buffy and Giles could have been developed a little more.

Score 90

Like someone else said, I was most hesitant to read this story, but found it better than I expected. The loose end about Spike was both intriguing and annoying, but overall I felt the story was too short, and the ending came about too suddenly, without enough of a lead-in. Still, it's not a bad fic.
