Slow to get into, because BX has never drawn me, but despite that I did get into it. Thought it was a very good story and very sexy. Loves the dialogue and romance.
My only complaints were Xander didn't seem like Xander to me, she seemed cool, but altered. But after discussing this with someone, they made the interesting observation that. Spike doesn't seem like Spike to them in most BS stories and so forth. . . Which I found to be and interesting observation

Oz, you are one hell of a romantic man!!

This story was obviously written from a male perspective by a man who is sensitive, strong and passionate, and is able to imbue Xander with those characteristics in a natural way. This is the Xander we will see in season 7-- mature, strong, confident. The author has taken those characteristics present in the boy drawn by ME and matured them into a man in a way that is logical, coherent and reasonable. One complaint I have about the Buffyverse is their [sometimes] unflattering portrayal of men [for example Buffy’s father, many of the male professors, etc.]. The writer also has a tremendous sense of respect for women in general, and Buffy in particular.

But being plot girl, I would have like the introduction of some “action” or “conflict” [in the classic literary sense, not a conflict between the main characters] a bit sooner to propel the story and add some variety and texture. I found that the tale picked up in tempo and captured my interest more fully as Xander told stories to Buffy about aspects of his life that has not been revealed before. I am glad that Oz has finally solved the mystery of the strip club adventure!!! [with 3!] And I was very moved by the story behind the scar. It is an all too familiar one to me.

Though I am not a B/X shipper, I found their relationship believable. The time invested in the story in the transition for Buffy to acknowledge some of her abandonment issues and to see Xander in this way made it flow for me. Their intimacy in the final chapter was natural and made sense.

One unusual strength to this story was the strong attention and detail to setting the author invested. I don’t know if this is from his own experience, but his creation of the physical backdrop to the story was concrete and allowed me to vividly visualize it. You take take me away to this resort any day!! Generally the author did an excellent job in description [e.g. “A light breeze caressed her hair and face...” ] creating a story that appealed to the senses.

There were a couple of limitations for me. I found the shifting perspective from Xander to Buffy and back the slightest bit jarring, but not enough to interfere with my enjoyment of the story. Though I thought his use of dialogue was quite good, I did sometimes get lost in the long bantering back-and-forth and was unsure of who was speaking to whom. I also found Anya a bit stiff. She is a difficult character to write in only words, I think. I found her reaction to Willow’s crying a bit harsh, without any visual cues to soften her inappropriate words. It’s not that I can’t imagine her saying this, but I needed more of a sense this came out of concern; she came off sounding insensitive to me.

I was, however, moved by the author’s portrayal of a chipless Spike and his struggle and the potential for redemption in his relationship with Dawn. And quite the hot little encounter with Willow!

Overall I would recommend this fic.
