The elf girl shuddered slightly and shook her head. "You don't understand. It is too dangerous for the three of you. You could get hurt or worse. I must ask you again NOT to try and pass."

Alexis tilted her head slightly to one side. "Will YOU try an stop us?" she asked carefully in her quiet tone.

Slowly the elf shook her head again. "No. It is not my way. I am but a messenger. I am not that which you will face if you attempt such a folly."

"Well then," Alexis said calmly. "I will ask you to step aside."

Monet looked to the feather and felt a trembling start in his body. If what Gwen said was true, and he had no reason to doubt her, then his girl could be in danger. ::Alex, wait. We may need more time...::

::No,:: came a simple reply from Rio. ::We are three lir. With us we have three warriors even if one of them is unknowing. There is also my lir's rujholli and their lir. Counting the magical girl Angie and the two jellicles...::

::But... Rio this is foolishness!:: Monet cried. His heart feared for Alex and her friends. ::We cannot let them walk into danger such as this.::

The black wolf growled. Her hackles stood bristled all along her back. ::I say no. We will not turn back. This is my lir's tallmora to lead a small band of us back into our home. I'll not turn back.::

Monet hissed slightly, but bowed his head to the older wiser lir. ::If you are sure.::

The wolf settled. ::I am.:: Then she called for Gab. ::We must camp for anouther night, but tomorrow we will begin the mountain pass.::

Somewhere in the darkness the warrior smiled.
