Gabriel's yellow eyes flared with anger. "It is because of him that I travel these mountains. He is the first Cheysuli to take a Silent Paw for a lir since the days we Cheysuli walked free in the west. And the boy will see her dead before excepting her."

Rio growled a soft grumbling noise, as she had no recourse to human speach. In the lir link she spoke softly. ::We will not allow the Silent Paw to die having never seen her home. She doesn't even KNOW what she is or that she is not alone.::

Dante grinned suddenly from his brothers lap. His eyes danced happily. ::We have to teach Jeff ta ba a good warrior like our Rujho.::

Khanada, still hidden beneath the horse, nodded quickly. ::It is an important journay. We Cheysuli are going home.::

Nashota brought up her proud head and smiled weakly. "As you can see, even if the boy can not, we care about him and our journay very much. If he is headed further into the mountains then we must get going." She lowered her head slightly. "If we lose him now he may get hurt."

Gabriel looked fondly at his strange clan. "Yes, we are a very strange clan, but..." He met Wes' eyes fully with just a hint of chalange. "But we are strong and believe in each other. The queen is right, we must hurry before the boy comes to harm."
